All classes meet at the Willow Wind Community Learning Center unless otherwise specified.
Courses may have a Lab or Materials Fee per child due by the FIRST day of class.
If you need a fee waiver for the workshop, please limit your child to two fee courses.
Advanced Beadwork
Art

Learn intricate beading patterns to get started on up to 4 different winter projects. We’ll start with the peyote stitch for making pouches,
tubular necklaces and bracelets. The second session will focus on latticework designs for necklaces and fringe decorations for pouches or

Card Making and Paper Crafts

variety of techniques from rubber-stamping to embossing. We will also use many new paper craft products including eyelets, vellum and

This is a class for doll lovers. We will make clothespin dolls and simple cloth dolls one day, then move onto a 12” “Waldorf”-type doll the

Note: This class builds on “Solving Mysteries using Forensic Science” offered during summer ’04 and spring ’05 workshop. There will be a
spring semester class offered in Forensic Science.
Welcome back CSI agents. This time we want to collect even more evidence to solve crimes. You will make 3-D plaster prints, assemble
your own suspect folder, identify mystery powders, analyze hair and fabric samples under the microscope, and perform other amazing
tests to solve the crime. You will talk to people from the US Fish & Wildlife Forensic Lab, the fire department and tour the Forensic
Department of Southern Oregon University. Previous forensics class required. Material Fee: $5

Paradise Creek Adventure Mapping

Have an adventure right in our Willow Wind backyard! We will hike Paradise Creek starting from the swamp walk near Bear Creek and
finishing at the ‘mystery source’ near East Main Street. This is a chance to see winter water forces at work and pick up litter. Then we’ll
have an artistic response to ‘map’ the stream on a butcher paper mural. Rubber boots, hats, gloves and jackets are a must. Spare dry
socks and pants are recommended. Parent helpers are warmly invited!

Help us plant native trees to bring back the wild nature to Willow Wind. Students have helped grow native Oregon ash and big-leaf maple
from seed, and now we can plant them. We may also have time to plant more seed for next year’s trees. Boots and warm clothing are
needed!

Do you like action, hands-on stuff, and mysteries? Then enter the fascinating world of forensics. These action-packed sessions train you
to become a C.S.I. specialist on a mock crime scene. Use the tiniest evidence to solve challenging mysteries. Examine your own
fingerprints/shoe wear prints, make invisible prints visible, analyze “blood” splatters, and perform other amazing tests to solve the crime.
Talk to a police officer and find our about his/her work. At the end you will actually go into the mock crime scene and will collect evidence.
