Emergency Translator List Application Form
As a volunteer on the Office of International Education “Emergency Translator List,” you may be
called upon to share your language skills on campus or in the larger Burlington community. This
list will be made available to campus and community members upon request to the OIE. By signing
up, you are agreeing to have your name, email address, and phone number be made available to
individuals who might benefit from your language abilities.
Examples in which translation skills might be needed include:
 Serving as a linguistic or cultural “broker” for an individual in crisis who would rather
express concerns in his or her native tongue.
 Translating information on behalf of community or campus agencies that are struggling to
convey important information effectively in English.
This is strictly on a volunteer basis, and you should not receive payment for your services. We are
looking for individuals who speak a language at a fluent or near-fluent level.
