We provide services in areas of psychotherapy and psychoeducational/ neuropsychological assessment for individuals with a tremendous range of diverse needs. This includes individuals who have learning disabilities, processing deficits, intellectual giftedness, behavioral problems, emotional issues, multicultural differences, receptive/expressive communication deficits, visual and auditory impairments, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders, Aspergers Syndrome, Autism, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Developmental Disabilities. We conduct comprehensive pychoeducational and neuropychological assessments for individuals of all ages. The typical assessment process includes review of prior educational records, classroom observation, parent/teacher interviews, administration of a wide variety of different assessment instruments, report writing, discussion of assessment results and attendance at an IEP meeting. Evaluations are conducted in English, as well as Spanish, including areas of intellectual, academic, visual/auditory processing, neurological, emotional and behavioral functioning. Psychotherapeutic services are provided for all ages. After gaining background information regarding your presenting issues, through oral and/or written input, your therapist will articulate a working understanding of the issues, treatment plan, therapeutic objectives, and a summary of the possible outcomes. You will be asked to give feedback and views on your therapy, its progress, and other aspects of therapy in order improve the delivery of services. Your therapist will draw upon a variety of empirically-based psychological approaches that have been found to treat your specific issues. These approaches may include cognitive-behavioral, behavioral, developmental, client-entered, family systems, and/or psychoeducational. Jeffrey S. Owen, Ph. D., NCSP Dr. Owen received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from U.C.L.A. and master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from U.S.C. He is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and credentialed School Psychologist with expertise in working with school-aged children and adolescents. Dr. Owen has been in private practice since 1984, primarily focusing upon neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessment, as well as individual and family therapy. He conducts Independent Educational Evaluations for parents and school districts throughout Southern California. In addition, he has served as a Special Education Administrator for various public school districts. Areas of expertise include anger management, social skills development, anxiety disorders, emotional difficulties, behavior problems, AD/HD, learning disabilities, and developmental disabilities. Dr. Owen is actively involved in conducting teacher inservices, parent education programs, mental health grant writing, and supervision of various mental health professionals. Monet Templeton, M. A. Monet Millard-Templeton received her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Bilingual/Bicultural Spanish Education from San Diego State University. Then she received a Master of Arts in School Psychology and a Masters of Arts in School Counseling from Chapman University. She has a School Psychology credential and she is a Licensed Educational Psychologist. In four different school settings she has worked her way from being a Bilingual Paraprofessional Assistant, to a Bilingual Basic Skills Teacher, to a Teacher at a private school, to a Bilingual School Counselor/Psychologist Intern, to a Bilingual School Psychologist working with English Language Learners from various cultural backgrounds. She currently works with the Encinitas Union School District as a Bilingual School Psychologist, conducting assessment, participating in district task forces, and teaching parenting classes in Spanish. Monet is an extremely capable, intelligent, insightful, and dedicated professional. She is a caring and understanding person, with great empathy for multi-ethnic students with special needs. Heather King, Psy.D. Dr. King received her Bachelor of Arts from University of California San Diego, followed by a Master of Arts and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, with an emphasis on child clinical and neuropsychology. Heather completed a post-doctoral intern at Kaiser Permanente Department of Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine – San Diego. In private practice and as District Psychologist for Capistrano Unified School District, Dr. King has conducted psychoeducational and neuropsychological assessments, individual/couple/family therapy, brief therapy/counseling, and consultation/ trainings in neuropsychology. Dr. King has conducted research in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/trauma, treatment outcome of cognitivebehavioral intervention for depression, neuropsychological assessment of cognitively impaired patients, female gang involvement, and physical/sexual abuse. Jennifer Gruman, M. S. Jennifer Johnson-Gruman received her bachelor’s degree from Point Loma Nazarene College and Master of Sciences from National University. She is an adjunct faculty member at National University teaching Advanced Individual Assessment in the graduate program. She has a School Psychology credential and is a Licensed Educational Psychologist. Ms. Gruman has provided school psychology services in Riverside County, San Diego County and San Diego City School Districts, and she currently is the School Psychologist for the preschool program at California Avenue School in Vista, California. She provides diagnostic services individually and as part of a transdisciplinary team, coordinates transitions with Early Start Programs, and conducts parent training and behavioral interventions for community preschools. Jennifer is a leader and mentor to other professionals working in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Jason Clark, M. S. Jason received his Bachelor or Arts from Northern Arizona University and his Master of Science in school psychology at National University. He is a Licensed Educational Psychologist, and has been conducting psychoeducational assessments for over ten years with students ranging from kindergarten to college. He has worked with virtually all handicapping conditions, with expertise in diagnosing learning disabilities (i.e., dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia) utilizing a neuropsychological and psychometric approach, as well as developing effective educational treatment plans based upon each student’s unique cognitive and academic profile.
