Project description:
The project aims to develop a demonstration CHP unit for the housing market based on a
high-temperature PEM fuel cell. The fuel cell is operating at up to 200°C at very high
tolerances of CO in hydrogen. The high operation temperature makes the cell suitable for heat
recirculation and the high CO tolerances makes it possible to utilize reformed hydrogen from
e.g. natural gas. The CHP unit consists of a 2 kW fuel cell stack, a natural gas reformer, an
afterburner and an electrical DC/AC converter. The prototype needs to be tested for
demonstration of electricity production based on natural gas combined with heat supply. The
possibilities of mass production and the related costs must be investigated.
