Your Electoral Guide.
We are about to have our first national elections as an
independent country. Everyone must vote, so that the
final result will reflect the true will of the caroban people.
Do not be dissuaded by those amongst us who say that it
does not matter.
Your vote must count.
Your vote should count.
Your vote shall
count!
The Contesting Parties
The following are the parties contesting the polls.
Observe their names, their initials and their symbols.
Caroba Labour Congress Party
(CLC) a tool,
Democratic Alliance of Caroba
(DAC) a plate of food,
your own. Think of the power and majesty of our rivers,
the beauties of our sands and seas.
You belong to Caroba and Caroba belongs to
you.
Where is your Community?
The country has been partitioned into regions. Each
region or district consists of many villages and townships.
The districts are
A. North east Caroba which
encompasses the towns of
Veraca, Chaded and many
other smaller communities
B. Southern Clay county WHICH
IS CENTRED ON Thomville,
C. Central Zone which has the villages
of Boneau, Sucdent, Luytrien and
Nilagua as its main constituents, and
D. Western Sands, which includes our
capital, Diganopt.
National Advancement Party of Caroba
(NAP) a car,
Caroba People’s Movement
(CPM) a house.
Each party will have published a manifesto, outlining its
policies, plans and objectives. You should view each
party’s manifesto, and listen to as many speakers as
possible, to decide which party you think is the best one to
lead the country.
Your country has a population of just under half a million
people, spread out in many large and small communities.
Think of our rich heritage and resources. Claim them as
particular school, you can still find out where you have to
vote, because each location has listings of all the names in
the district, not just those people who are to vote at that
location.

Check for your name
Remember again that the district has several villages, and
that a large city like Diganopt is divided into sections. If
you cannot find your name at all, report the matter to the
central elections office in Diganopt.
The address is:
Central Elections Office,
3 Temple Road,
Accompaniburg,
Diganopt.
When you make this report, make sure you have all the
details.
Check for fake voters
Where do you vote?
In all the districts except Western Sands, voting is done in
the school buildings. Diganopt is the exception, since for
residents in some sections of our capital city, voting will
take place at the city hall.
Check for your name ON THE LIST
You must find out quickly which is the location of the
school nearest you, and check for your name on the local
voters list. If your name is not on the list for that
You might find, on the list, the name and address of
someone whom you know does not exist at that address. If
you come across such a problem, report the matter
immediately to the central elections office in Diganopt.

When you make this report, make sure you have all the
details:
 State when you noticed the problem (the exact date
please), and
 Give the offending name and address and the location
where the list was seen.
 You also need to identify your self when making the
report.
When the time comes for voting
Go as early as possible to your
polling station. You may need
to join a line. If so, be very
patient, and say nothing that
could possibly upset anyone.
 Do not even
mention the
economy. Do not praise
or criticise.
 Do not frown or look at
anyone in a disdainful
manner.
 Remember that when you
least expect it, people can
get angry. Even your best
friend may not be thinking in the way that you expect.
When You Enter The Polling Station
When you enter, the first
attendant will check the list for
your name. Your name is then
ticked off on the list. The second
attendant then will hand you a
ballot sheet, having the initials of
the four parties and showing their
symbols.
There is a box next to each
party’s symbol. You are to enter the special polling booth,
and mark an X clearly in the box for the party of your
choice. When you enter the special booth, no one can see
where you have placed the X. Your vote is totally private.
You must then fold the ballot neatly along the dotted line
and BRING IT OUT OF THE BOOTH. You then drop the
ballot into the ballot box. The attendants will see you
drop the ballot in, but they will not know which party you
have chosen.
Your left thumb is
then dipped in
indelible ink and a
fingerprint is made
at a particular spot
on the printed list,
next to your name.

What the Ballot Paper looks like.
When the voting is
completed, the votes at each village are counted. At each
polling station a statement of poll is produced, showing
how the votes are distributed amongst the parties, as well
as the number of spoilt votes.
A tabulation is done, essentially combining the results for
the different stations, to eventually arrive at the final
distribution of seats in our country’s national parliament.
