The physical therapy department anticipates having four half-time Teaching/Research Fellowship positions
available for the 2012-2013 academic year. Each of these positions provides 12 semester hours of tuition waiver and a
$2,000 stipend, divided equally between fall and spring semesters. Each Fellow must be a full-time student (i.e.
registers for a minimum of 9 semester hours of academic credit during each semester). Each position will require that
students be available for an average of 12-18 hours a week, mostly during office hours. (Weekdays between 8 am and 6
pm) The qualifications and responsibilities for each position are described below:
A. PT Teaching/Research Fellow (3 positions)
Open to any new or returning graduate student, this position provides teaching and research support for faculty.
This support may include grading, scheduling, monitoring open laboratory time, conducting literature searches,
organizing teaching resources, and other activities to support faculty work. Each fellow is assigned to primary support
the work of two (on occasion three) faculty members for the duration of the academic year.
Qualifications include computer skills (word processing, including mail merge, database design and maintenance,
and spreadsheets); maturity; initiative and judgment in personal and phone contacts; organizational and problemsolving skills with the ability to self-check; and ethical and professional behavior in maintaining confidentiality. This
Fellow must be available for an average of 12 hours per week during regular office hours (weekdays between 8am and
6pm) for both fall and spring semesters, with some evening hours for open laboratory times.
B. PT Anatomy Fellow
This position is open to any returning physical therapy student who has a good understanding of human anatomy
demonstrated by successful completion of PHTH 506/508 with grades of at least B+. This Fellow is responsible for
assisting with laboratory preparation and dissection, and management of materials for the synthesis portion of PHTH
506/508. This Fellow should comfortable in an instructor role and should relate well to other students requesting
assistance. An additional responsibility for monitoring open lab time in the anatomy suite for human anatomy and
neuroanatomy is a portion of the job. He or she will have access to previous materials and audiovisual resources.
Additional faculty support will be provided through grading, scheduling, literature searches, and organization of
teaching materials.
Qualifications include computer skills (word processing, accessing Babson Library’s catalog and database
searching), responsibility, initiative, professional behavior, and judgment. The Fellow must be available for an average
of 12 hours per week, mostly during regular class hours for both the fall and spring semesters.
