Definitions
Organisational procedures – instructions to staff on policies and procedures which
are formally documented, or generally accepted within the workplace.
Retail environment – workplaces where the primary focus is on customers
purchasing goods and/or services.

Candidates undertaking assessment against this unit standard are expected to
comply with the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.

This unit standard can be assessed against in a simulated situation that reflects a
realistic workplace environment.

Maintain housekeeping in a retail environment.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Workplace is kept clean, tidy, free from dust and free of hazards in accordance
with organisational procedures.
Range
1.2
housekeeping may include but is not limited to – floor, counter,
walls, ceiling, windows, displays, fixtures, fittings, furniture,
furnishings.
Maintenance of workplace is carried out with minimal disruption to customers.

procedures.
