To Register with the Practice
If you would like to register, and live within our practice area
(Marple Bridge, Compstall & Mellor) please call in at the surgery
with your medical cards and details of your present General
Practitioner.
When registered you may see any of the Doctors in our Practice –
we would encourage you to see the same practitioner with an on
going problem for continuity of care. If you have a specific
preference of Doctor please inform the reception staff to record
this.
On registration you should attend for a new patient check with the
nurse, this can be booked at reception when you register.
Routine Appointments
All surgeries are booked by appointment - to make an
appointment, please call at the surgery, telephone between 8am
and 6pm or book online. If your problem is urgent a member of
the Health Care Team will see you on the same day.
Visits
Please try to attend the surgery if at all possible as it takes much
longer for the doctor to see you at home and they may need
facilities which are only available in the surgery. If a home visit is
necessary, please try to let us know as early as possible, preferably
between 8:00am and 9:30am so that the doctors’ visiting rounds
may be planned efficiently. However if you request a visit please
note this request will be assessed by a doctor, and they may
contact you to discuss your condition and make any necessary
arrangements for you to be seen – this could be either at home, if
deemed to be necessary by the doctor and you are genuinely
housebound, or at the surgery if more appropriate. In some cases
you may be advised to go directly to hospital for treatment.
Midwives offer personal maternity care, both before and after your
baby’s birth, with ante-natal clinics held at the surgery.
We are able to offer regular cervical smears and mammograms
based on an automatic recall system. Please ask at reception for
details.
We can advise you about counselling services, marital guidance
and self-help groups.
Foreign Travel
Our Practice Nurses can advise you with regard to healthy travel
and arrange any vaccinations necessary – please remember that
these may need to be started up to eight weeks before your
departure date.
Disabled Access
Training and Education
Health Promotion
Marple Bridge Surgery seeks to deliver an equitable service to all
patients.
We have been selected to be a training practice. From time to time
a fully qualified registered doctor undergoing additional training
for general practice will be working with us.
On occasion we may videotape surgeries to assist us in improving
our consultations, but you would always be asked in advance to
give your consent for this and you would be entirely free to
decline.
We are keen to try and promote good health and would like to
invite any patients who have not been seen within the last three
years to attend for a health check. Please make an appointment
with the nurse.
The Surgery offers unrestricted access for disabled patients.
Equal Opportunity
Online Services
Patients are now able to access Online appointments, order repeat
prescriptions and patient records, please ask at reception for
