Coatesville Area Youth Philanthropy Program The Brandywine Health Foundation has developed a new and exciting program that allows youth in the Coatesville Area School District to engage, get involved, and give back to their community. Underwritten by Citadel Federal Credit Union, the first year of the new Coatesville Area Youth Philanthropy Program was designed by the Brandywine Health Foundation’s Program Manager and two teen interns from the Coatesville Youth Initiatives’ Summer ServiceCorps Program. They have designed this exciting new program to learn about the world of philanthropy for 12 to 15 youth/teens, between the ages of 14 and 18, who will meet on a regular basis during the 2015 – 2016 school year with the following program goals: Supporting the Coatesville Area- Sustaining our community to allow it to grow and flourish. Healthy Living- Promoting a positive and safe environment. Diversity- Allowing a variety of opinions, beliefs, and most importantly, people to collaborate to create a better brighter future. With mentorship provided by the Program Manager and other community leaders, youth participants will learn about various Coatesville area agencies, understand how to evaluate the needs of their community, and engage in the grant making process by reading grant proposals, going on site visits, and ultimately distributing $15,000 to non-profits they select for grant awards. Selected Youth Philanthropy Program participants are expected to meet at least two weekday evenings per month (5:00 - 7:00 p.m.) and at least one Saturday morning per month (8:00 a.m. to Noon) from October through May. Meetings will be held at the Brandywine Center, 744 East Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, PA.
