SPECIES LIFE CYCLE LAB

You will be assigned a species (beef, dairy, sheep, swine, goats, or poultry).
Your objective is to outline the typical life cycle of the species you are
assigned.
Research the species utilizing Ch 2, Breeds and Life Cycles of Livestock and
Poultry, in your animal science text. Include all pertinent stages and ages of
birth/hatching, weaning (if appropriate), breeding age/systems, feeder/feedlot
strategies (where appropriate), replacements (where utilized), and
special/multiple products (e.g. sheep meat/wool, goats milk/meat/mohair,
poultry meat/eggs).
Organize your species life cycle in a simple outline form of your choice.
Process your work in Microsoft Word and save on disk/CD. You will be
presenting your outline to the class using the multimedia projector and

presentation using PowerPoint. Finally, print a copy of your outline and
submit disk and paper copy to me for grading. This lab is worth 35 pts.
