Dear Meadowbrook Parents / Guardians,
I hope you are enjoying a relaxing summer full of great times with family and
friends. As we continue to prepare for the 2015-2016 school year, I wanted to send
this letter to review some of our school procedures at Meadowbrook School.
First Day of School: The first day of school is Wednesday, September 2nd. Come
with a smile! 
School Hours: The bell rings at 8:50am and the first period of instruction begins at
9:00am. Any late student arriving after 9:00am needs to report to the main office
for a late pass. Please know the expectation is that all students line-up outside of the
building with their classmates on the back blacktop.
Morning Line-up: Kindergarten students will line-up outside the back of the school
on the blue top. Students in first grade will line-up outside the courtyard gates in the
rear of the building while the rest of the students (grades 2-4) will be in front of
their classroom sign on the back wall of the blacktop. In the event of challenging
weather conditions (rain, snow, etc.) students in all grades will be permitted to lineup in the hallways by their classroom door until the classroom teachers arrive.
Parents are not permitted to escort their children to their classroom and remain
with them.
“Kiss and Go” Expectations: If you need to drop your children off after 8:50am, we
continue to “kiss and go” outside of the front of the building by the main office.
Parents will not be permitted to walk children into the building and down the front
hallway before saying goodbye. Staff members will be available to help children get
to their new classrooms.
Morning Bus Arrival at Meadowbrook School: When the first bus arrives at our
school, a staff member will meet and direct the students to the playground for
morning play or inside the school if the weather is not conducive to outside play.
When the second bus arrives, a staff member will meet, greet and escort the
kindergarten students to their classroom.
Morning Drop-Off: Due to the ongoing safety concerns in the parking lot, parents
have the ability to drop students off curbside in front of the school after the 8:50am
bell sounds. For this to work, parents cannot park and/or leave their cars
unattended at any time. Parents can continue to drop students off by the stairs
between 8:35am - 8:50am for a shorter walk to the outside line-up areas.
Dismissal: At dismissal, students will be accompanied by their teacher to their
assigned doors. Parents/guardians are expected to meet their children at their
assigned exterior door at the end of the school day. Students will not be dismissed to
any other location unless they are riding the bus or are enrolled in the aftercare
program.
Afternoon Pick-Up: Any parent running late to pick up their child should
communicate that with the office before 3:00pm and that child/children will wait in
the main office. No child should be waiting at the top of the stairs in the parking lot.
That causes an unsafe environment and backs up traffic. Students that are observed
waiting at the stairs will be redirected to the office to wait.
Parent Visitors in the Building: As a reminder, all visitors need to report to the
main office to sign in before walking throughout our building. This will be strictly
enforced as our entire staff is committed to maintaining your child’s safety as our
top priority. I appreciate your continued cooperation and understanding.
Transportation Information: Children who are scheduled for taking the bus will
receive information from the Board of Education office. This will include the
location of the bus stop along with pick-up and drop-off times. If you do not receive
your information by the end of August, please give us a call.
Emergency Contact Information: Please update any emergency contact
information by going to www.hillsdaleschools.com/meadowbrook and click on the
Parent Portal icon. The main office can assist you with logging in for the first time.
As always, please visit our school website for up-to-date school information, our
weekly newsletter, M.F.F.A. events and daily classroom information. Follow the
MFFA on Facebook and us on Twitter: @MeadowPrincipal and @HPS_Meadow.
I appreciate your cooperation and look forward to another great year together.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Kindest Regards,
