Please note that information contained in this document may change at any time and without prior warning. www.inspire2coach.co.uk/coach-education ABOUT INSPIRE2COACH inspire2coach ltd is a company which delivers the Level 1 Award in Coaching Tennis (QCF). inspire2coach is an LTA/Skillsactive-accredited Coach Education Centre, recognised for the quality of its training and courses. The Level 1 is awarded by 1st4sport. inspire2coach has Approved Centre status from 1st4sport to deliver these courses. ABOUT THE COURSE If you have passed your Level 1 Award in Coaching Tennis (QCF), the next step is the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Tennis course. The course is aimed for those who want to improve their coaching skills and be able to work with groups of beginners on their own. It is endorsed by the UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) and if successful you will receive a Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Tennis, awarded by 1st4sport. The main objectives are to train learners in how to: create a motivating and enjoyable environment organise competition for groups of beginners coach groups of beginners using differentiated equipment On successful completion of the Level 2 you: should be able to motivate and inspire people to play tennis should be able to organise competition for groups of beginners, to include Mini Tennis, older juniors and adults should be able to use effective verbal and non verbal communication skills with groups of beginners should be able to organise tennis activity constructively and safely with groups of beginners should be able to plan and deliver a structured lesson using LTA Level 2 coach resources will have basic knowledge of tactics and techniques, rules of tennis and Mini Tennis will have a full understanding of the structure of Mini Tennis and tennis in the UK should be able to give advice on tactical and technical improvement in Mini Tennis and tennis COURSE STRUCTURE The Level 2 course is a total of 5 days (please see diagram below). During the course you will need to complete an online training diary and a minimum of eight hours mentored coaching experience with an LTA licensed coach mentor. You must have your mentored coaching experience organised before the course starts. For help with this please contact your LTA Regional Office. If you have problems with this then please contact coached@inspire2coach.co.uk www.inspire2coach.co.uk/coach-education DAYS 1 & 2 Course introduction| Lesson Structure| Warm ups and ABCS| Main lesson theme and progressions| Technique| Tactics| Observation and analysis MENTORED COACHING EXPERIENCE Minimum 4 hours working with a qualified coach during the 4-6 weeks before Block 2 DAYS 3 & 4 Differentiation| How players learn| Skill acquisition| Teaching groups| Working in a team| Formative assessment| Organising competition| Working in Primary Schools MENTORED COACHING EXPERIENCE Minimum 4 hours working with a qualified coach during the 4-6 weeks before day 5 AT THIS POINT, YOU MUST ENSURE THAT YOUR ONLINE TRAINING DIARY IS COMPLETE AND SIGNED OFF IN ORDER FOR YOU TO ATTEND DAY 5 DAY 5 Summative assessment COURSE ASSESSMENT You will be assessed on Day 5 of the course providing that your Training Diary has been signed off on the following: 1. On court practical coaching assessment using course materials In order to be assessed on day 5, you must have attended days 1,2, 3 & 4 in order and have your Training Diary completed and submitted ready to be marked by the course tutor. COST OF THE COURSE The Level 2 course is £399. We must receive full payment, notification of the course prerequisites and a course application in order for your space to be guaranteed on the course. www.inspire2coach.co.uk/coach-education COURSE PRE-REQUISITES Before you apply for your Level 2 course you must: have a current LTA DBS Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the LTA. You must apply for a LTA DBS and be in possession of a clean LTA DBS certificate before you apply for your Level 2 course have an appropriate and valid First Aid certificate before applying for the course. Please note that the only accepted First Aid qualification for your Level 2 is the OFQUAL Level 2 LTA recognised 6 hour Emergency First Aid at Work. You must be 16 years old or older on day 1 of the course you are applying for. have an active interest and involvement in tennis NON-ATTENDANCE AND WITHDRAWAL FROM THE COURSE If you withdraw from the course less than 21 working days before the start date then the full course fee will be forfeited if the vacancy is not filled. Once you have enrolled onto a course you must attend all 5 days at the same venue. Under no circumstances can you move between venues without the prior consent of the inspire2coach Coach Education Manager. In all cases, a transfer administration fee will apply Non-attendance and withdrawal for whatever reason during the course will also result in the loss of the full course fee. Full terms and conditions can be found on our course application form. You must read and sign them to be accepted on the course. FOLLOWING ACCEPTANCE ONTO THE COURSE We will contact you by email with details of the course venue, address, times and details relating to the My Training Diary login information. Your signed application form will be retained by inspire2coach Course resources will be given out by the tutor on the first day of the course AFTER YOUR LEVEL 2 COURSE We sincerely hope that your experience on our Level 2 course will be an enjoyable and successful one. At the end of the course: Your tutor will advise you on the day if you have been successful on both aspects of the course assessment. We will write to you confirming your course results. If you have not been successful, we will advise you on what actions need to be addressed in order for you to complete this qualification. Your course certificate will be sent to you directly from 1st4Sport. This may several weeks to come through.
