ABOUT INSPIRE2COACH
inspire2coach ltd is a company which delivers the Level 1 Award in Coaching Tennis (QCF).
inspire2coach is an LTA/Skillsactive-accredited Coach Education Centre, recognised for the
quality of its training and courses. The Level 1 is awarded by 1st4sport. inspire2coach has
Approved Centre status from 1st4sport to deliver these courses.
ABOUT THE COURSE
If you want to get involved in tennis coaching, either as a part-time role or as a career in tennis
coaching, the Level 1 course is your starting point. It is aimed at people who are enthusiastic
about tennis, who want to assist a more experienced and qualified coach deliver Mini Tennis
and who meet the entry requirements below.
It is endorsed by UKCC and if successful you will receive a Level 1 Award in Coaching Tennis
awarded by 1st4sport.
COURSE AIMS
To train learners how to assist an LTA licensed coach with groups of Mini Tennis players aged 8
and under.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the Level 1 you should:
 be able to motivate and inspire people to play tennis
 be able to use effective verbal and non verbal communication skills
 be able to organise tennis activity constructively and safely
 be able to plan and deliver a structured lesson using LTA Level 1 coach resources
 have basic knowledge of tactics, techniques and rules of tennis
 have a full understanding of the structure of Mini Tennis
COURSE STRUCTURE
 The course typically consists of three days (two days, followed by a three to six week
break for coaching experience, then a one day final assessment). We may occasionally
use different course formats to suit exceptional circumstances.
 During the three to six week break you will need to complete a course portfolio of
evidence and complete a minimum or three hours coaching with a licensed coach
mentor at an LTA Clubmark-accredited club
 You are required to have your coaching experience organised before the course starts.

COURSE ASSESSMENT
You will be assessed in two areas during a summative assessment on Day 3 of the course:
1. On court practical coaching assessment using course materials
2. Portfolio of evidence
You must attend all the sessions on the course and pass all elements of assessment to be
successful.
COST OF THE COURSE
The course fee is £220 per learner.
All course fees include VAT and are payable on application. A place on the course cannot be
allocated before the course application, all supporting documents and fee has been received.
Applications should be submitted at least 21 days in advance of the course start date. All places
are subject to availability.
COURSE PRE-REQUISITES
 You must be at least 16 years of age on the first day of the course
 You must have an active interest and involvement in tennis
 You must submit a copy of the Deployment without DBS/CRB letter which can be
obtained from our website and which must be signed by a member of the committee at
your club or LTA licensed coach mentor
N.B. Please be aware that applications cannot be accepted unless accompanied by the correct
pre-requisite documentation . Please note that we will not hold spaces for applications which
are not supported by the appropriate documents.

‘DEPLOYMENT WITHOUT DBS/CRB’ LETTER
A copy of the Deployment without DBS/CRB letter can be obtained on our website at

014.pdf or by emailing joe@inspire2coach.co.uk It must be signed by a member of the
committee or your LTA licensed coach mentor at your club and should be included with your
course application form.
NON-ATTENDANCE AND WITHDRAWAL FROM THE COURSE
 If you withdraw from the course less than 21 working days before the start date then
the full course fee will be forfeited if the vacancy is not filled.
 Once you have enrolled onto a course you must attend all 3 days at the same venue.
 Under no circumstances can you move between venues without the prior consent of the
inspire2coach Coach Education Manager. In all cases, a transfer administration fee will
apply
 Non-attendance and withdrawal for whatever reason during the course will also result
in the loss of the full course fee.

them to be accepted on the course.
FOLLOWING ACCEPTANCE ONTO THE COURSE
 We will contact you by email with details of the course venue, directions and times
 Your signed application form will be retained by inspire2coach
 Course resources will be given out by the tutor on the first day of the course
AFTER YOUR LEVEL 1 COURSE
We sincerely hope that your experience on our Level 1 course will be an enjoyable and
successful one. At the end of the course:
 You will told by your tutor after your assessment whether you have passed the course.
In order to do so you will need to have passed your practical assessment and have
completed your course portfolio
 We will write to you confirming your course results. If you have not been successful, we
will write to you to tell you what you need to do to pass at a later stage
 Your course certificate will be sent to you directly from 1st4Sport. This may take up to 3
months to come through. If you need evidence of your course result before you receive
your certificate, you may use our official course results letter
WHAT ABOUT THE NEXT LEVEL?
The next level after your Level 1 is the Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Tennis. The course lasts 5
days and costs £399.00. Please note that you must pass your Level 1 before you can apply for
your Level 2. For further details about the Level 2 course, please read our Level 2 course
information. In preparation for your Level 2, there are 2 specific requirements which must be
met before you apply for the course:

First Aid
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
FIRST AID COURSE
You must have attended an appropriate First Aid course before you apply for your Level 2
course. Our OFQUAL Level 2 LTA recognised 6 hour Emergency First Aid at Work course is
delivered by our partners, Impact First Aid. The First Aid course is a mandatory
prerequisite for the Level 2 and for LTA Registration and Coach Licensing. The course is 6
hours and costs just £59.00. Information about dates and venues can be found at

DISCLOSURE AND BARRING SERVICE (DBS) ENHANCED DISCLOSURE
If you decide to apply for your Level 2, you must apply for a DBS and be in possession of a clean
DBS certificate before you apply for your Level 2. This must be done through the LTA, and you
cannot apply for the course unless you have a clean DBS Enhanced Disclosure which is no
more than 12 months old by the first day of the Level 2 course. DBS applications can be done
online at http://www.lta.org.uk/crb . Since processing the DBS can take up to 8 weeks, we
advise that DBS applications are done well in advance of the start of the course.
