2005 SHOW RESULTS What an exciting year 2005 was! The new organization, Quarter Pony Association, really worked to promote the quarter pony breed. One of the primary ways QPA chose to encourage promotion of our ponies was through an awards program for those who chose to show. We have tallied the points and are ready to announce the winners of our different categories and the high point overall winners. Following are the final standings for ponies that were shown and had results submitted to QPA in 2005. Those points were then calculated to decide the Overall High Point QPA Ponies for 2005. High Point Overall was won by Jana Lappin and her 11 hand IQPA registered mare, Baba Barbara Ann. Jana shares her excitement with us. “I am a ten year old fifth grade student. I live in Marshall Missouri. I am a student at Bueker Middle School. I go to Fairville Reynolds 4-H club in Miami Missouri. “My pony, Baba Babara Ann is the best pony in the world. My Mom and dad have helped me so much. Without them I wouldn't be here right now. I think winning hi-point is very exiting!!! My goals for 2006 -- its just have fun. I would like to thank My Family, My Friends, and all the people who helped me get this far.” Says her mother, Jenn Lappin, “I know, on my part, I AM ONE PROUD MOM!” High Point Reserve was won by Sarah Bergs and her pony, Tardy’s Smokin Fantasy. Sarah shares her feelings and experiences with Smoky with us, too. “Me an Smokey started out in about January of 2005, of course our first meeting wasn't very good. When we brought her home she was the first horse I could actually ride. When people saw her small mane & tail they thought we'd get nowhere if we tried to show and do play-days at the Lazy T stables. Boy, we proved them wrong! I’ve now been going to Rafter J cowboy church, and I got my 2nd (although the first real trophy) there. Me an Smoker, I think, work the best together because when I first got her she was a training horse where people learn to ride so she learned a lot of bad habits there. One of them was ramming your foot on the fence. I taught her that if I stuck my foot out I felt I was too close to the fence. But nowadays we don’t have that much trouble. Sure she has her days but that's normal right? Anyway, that's a summary of The Amazing Smoker!(Smokey!me)” Congratulations to you all for the great job you have done. We want to thank you for letting us help you enjoy and promote your ponies! Your awards are on the way! Enjoy! INSPECTORS NEEDED Once again, we are reminding you that this is your organization and we have need of your input and expertise! We still need inspectors in many areas. Please check the list at the website and contact us to volunteer to help! QPA REPRESENTED IN TOPEKA, KANSAS QPA is planning to have a booth at the Heartland Ranch Open House in Wakarusa, Kansas (near Topeka), on April 8. If you are in the area, please stop by and visit us and our ponies and get more information on how you can share in the growth of this breed. You can learn more about the Open House, in its second year this year, at www.heartlandranch.org.
