Dear Parents,
Parents’ Evening
Thank you to all parents who were able to attend parents’ evening. It was great to see so many of you there and I hope you
found the online booking system helpful.
Merit Assembly
Congratulations to all children who received merits in assembly on Thursday. We are trialling a new system of sending texts to
parents of children who are due to receive a merit. All we ask is please do not tell your child, we keep the merit award a secret
until the day. We are always grateful to parents who are able to attend regardless of whether or not their child will be
receiving an award as it means that every child has an ‘audience’ when they are presented with their certificate.
Individual Photographs
Individual photographs will be taking place on 4th November. Siblings are welcome too; a separate letter has come out with
detailed information. If you misplaced this or any other letter, please visit the school website www.greatfieldparkschool.com
and look in the virtual book bag.
Pantomime Slips
If you have not already done so, please can you return your child’s pantomime permission slip. There are several outstanding
and these were due in on 17th October.
Coats
As we are now clearly in Autumn, it is crucial that all children bring a coat in to school – irrespective of the weather first thing
in the morning. Please make sure that your child’s coat is clearly named.
Remembrance
We will have poppies on sale in the school office after half-term. All monies raised will go directly to the Poppy Appeal.
Children in Need
In the second week back after half-term, on the 14th November, we will be fundraising for Children in Need. Joining with the
rest of the UK, we will be encouraging our children to come dressed as superheroes (either a famous one or one of their own
creation!). Please can your child bring £1 on Friday 14th to donate to Children in Need. Based on the number of children in
school we should be able to raise over £200!
Special Visitor
On the first Monday back after half-term, Monday 3rd November, we will be very lucky to have a visit from the Diocesan
Bishop – Bishop Martyn. He is spending time in the local parish and, as part of this, will be coming to Greatfield Park.
GPA Meeting
There will be a GPA meeting on 11th November, all are welcome to attend. The meeting takes place in the staff room at 7pm
and GPA are always keen for enthusiastic people to join.
Trim Trail
We are very grateful to GPA for purchasing a new trim trail for our school. This has been placed in the same position as the
old one, next to the Adventure Playground, and the children are very excited about being able to use it after half-term. Please
note that, as ever, children must not play on any of the equipment either before or after school.
Autumn Term 24/10/14
Dome Building
More exciting news – excavation is under way for the installation of our dome in the centre of the school! This will be built in
the quadrangle and will be used by both classes and small groups as an additional teaching space. Whilst the building is taking
place, any parents bringing children to breakfast or after-school club must use the kitchen servery door as a temporary
entrance. Apologies for any inconveniences that this causes.
Shoebox Appeal.
If you would like to fill a shoebox for a child in need and require a ready wrapped shoebox please collect one from the school
foyer. Filled shoeboxes should be returned to school by Monday 10th November, thank you.
Half-term
All that remains is for me to wish you all a relaxing and restful half-term. Look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 3rd
November.
