SOPHOMORE YEAR STUDENTS
___ Meet with OCD staff to discuss your career goals (Step 3 of iSucceed Career Development Process Model ).
___ Explore a double Major or minor if you are interested (Fall & Spring)
___ Get involved in your major. Meet with your advisor on a regular basis to discuss opportunities within the department.
Participate in independent study opportunities or creative projects.
Join professional organizations relevant to your major. Student memberships are often offered at a reduced rate
(e.g. National Education Association).
Participate in Informational Interviews (e.g. TechTrek for IT majors).
Utilize career library to gain more information about careers available within your major.
Utilize online FOCUS system.

___ Obtain additional career counseling assistance (What to do after graduation?)
___ If planning to attend graduate school, complete all application materials and write a statement of purpose.
___ Network with friends, family, faculty, alumni, and others. Most jobs are found through networking.
___ Connect with your academic department regarding internship requirements (OCD may serve as an additional resource)
___ Tailor your resume for each position you plan to apply, and write cover letters for each application. Bring to
Office of Career Development for critique.
___ Read professional journals relevant to your field in order to stay on top of current trends. This may help you during interviews!
___ Visit the Bruder Center to explore the employer binders and job/internship binders
___ Attend on-campus and off-campus career fairs
