An Update on Childhood Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder By Dr. S. Evelyn Stewart, M.D. This talk will describe the clinical presentation and recommended management of pediatric OCD. It will also summarize current understanding of etiology, long-term course and family impacts of the disorder. Friday, June 17th at Noon – 1pm In Room 312 of Lorton Hall at The University of Tulsa Dr. Evelyn Stewart is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, University of British Columbia. She is a translational clinical & genetic researcher, as well as a child & adult psychiatrist. Her research mainly focuses on genomic, phenotypic, and treatment aspects of childhood-onset neuropsychiatric disorders, specifically obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Dr. Stewart completed medical school at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia and a psychiatry residency specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Ottawa. She subsequently completed a Harvard University research fellowship focusing on genetic and clinical aspects of OCD at McLean and Massachusetts General Hospitals. She was the founding Research Director of the OCD Institute, McLean Hospital. Dr. Stewart has authored over 50 original papers, reviews, abstracts and chapters on genetic, clinical, and treatment aspects of OCD, Tourette's Disorder, and related illnesses. Her clinical, teaching, and research efforts focus on the interplay and translation between genetic, developmental, clinical, and familial aspects of OCD and related neuropsychiatric conditions throughout the lifespan. She sits on the Scientific Advisory Board of the International OCD Foundation, chairs their Pediatric OCD committee and is an active member of the International OCD Foundation Genetics Collaborative, having recently completed the first genome-wide association study of OCD.
