The new staff person may work anywhere in the US (need not work in Iowa or Boston, the two locations of current staff). We favor, but do not require that applicants be able to work in the DC area. Responsibilities: Sujata Warrier Staff Co-Director Gail Pendleton Providing individual technical assistance on immigration cases for OVW and related grantees Developing and disseminating practice advisories on immigration law fundamentals and on emerging issues in immigration cases for survivors Co- Director Sonia ParrasKonrad Assistant Manager Maria Lazzarino Collecting, editing and developing, as necessary, resources for grantees, available through our Clearinghouse website Developing and providing training to grantees, primarily through webinars and webcasts, with possible in-person trainings as required by OVW Assisting the Co-Directors with government liaison efforts Collaborating with other national OVW TA providers on joint training efforts Working with other national OVW TA providers to ensure they incorporate accurate information on immigrant survivor issues into their training If based in DC, representing ASISTA at coalition and government agency meetings Working with other staff to carry out organizational goals under our OVW grant Requirements: Law degree plus three years' experience working on VAWA self-petitions, VAWA cancellation and/or U visas (or demonstrated equivalent experience) Commitment to immigrants' rights and the human rights of all women Demonstrated ability to work without frequent in-person supervision Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with partner organizations Excellent analytic, advocacy and communication skills Bi- or multi-cultural and -lingual candidates favored but not required Salary and Benefits: Salary is limited by our OVW grant to $50,000/year (hours/week are negotiable, depending on experience).
