Facilities Our sports complex was opened just over 12 years ago. The sports hall is large enough for four badminton courts and is used for basketball, netball, indoor tennis, hockey, fitness training, cricket (two nets), indoor football. We have two further gyms, one of which is used for climbing and trampolining (two trampolines, one climbing wall and one traverse wall). The fitness centre contains many different activity stations including a powered treadmill, elliptical trainers, steppers, rowing machines and exercise bikes (all Pulse fitness). (Oxon) There are seven outdoor tennis courts and a further hard court area large enough to accommodate six netball courts and one outdoor basketball court. We have substantial playing fields containing two football pitches, tow five-a-side pitches, one 9V9 side pitches, one rugby pitch, and two gridded training areas. We greatly value our three Physical Education classrooms as these are our bases for PE theory delivery including GCSE, AS, A2 and BTEC. The Department makes great use of ICT with both classrooms having C-Touch boards and one of the classrooms on the school network containing 6 workstations and a set of 14 laptops. Phase 2 (Years 9, 10 and 11) In Year 9 a taster year is put into place, where the students choose 6 options and during the year, subject teachers will deliver aspects of the course. In Year 10, the students drop three of the option subjects and begin the course and qualification at the start of the year. Examination Level Physical Education GCSE Physical Education is a popular option subject within the school with three classes in Year 10 and three in Year 11 currently studying. We also have a further class of students studying BTEC in Sport in Year 10 and 4 classes studying it in Year 11. Students study the Edexcel syllabus. Students can go on to study both AS and A2 (Edexcel syllabus) and BTEC in Sport Level 3 in Year 12 and 13. We currently offer the Subsidiary Diploma, Diploma and Extended Diploma which enables students to achieve 3 A-Levels at the end of Year 13. A school colours system operates, Junior colours Year 9, Senior colours Years 10 & 11 to recognise their commitment to extra-curricular school sport. An annual sports presentation event to recognise sporting achievement. Sports day held for the whole school, held at Northwood Stadium. Annual sports tour for students who have represented the school. The PE department also organises and runs the school sports trips. The Community is always striving to improve and is receptive to new ideas.
