It is packed full of useful information, and easy to use. This is the website for the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses www.orthonurse.org This website is intended for nurses in the Orthopaedic field. It covers clinical practice issues, Orthopaedic Nurse Certification (ONC) testing dates and locations, case studies and continuing education. I give the website an ‘8’. It has a lot of useful information, but in order to access the entire website, one must be a member. Membership dues are roughly $90 annually. This is the website for the New York State Nurses Association www.nysna.org This website is intended for New York state nurses and nursing students. It contains information on safe staffing issues, evidence-based practice, education opportunities, continuing education credits and practice alerts. I give the website a ‘7’ because it appears very union focused but has very good information for nurses and student nurses. This website is dedicated to emergency room nursing. www.ena.org This website is intended for emergency room nursing personnel. It includes staffing information, safe patient initiatives, best practice, emergence preparedness, continuing education, and emergency nursing certification exam information. I score this website a ‘9’ because it has great information and is easy to use. This website is intended to provide information regarding black nurses. www.nbna.org NBNA is committed to improving the quality of life of persons who share the African American heritage. The website includes information regarding the mission of NBNA, how to best serve African American communities, issues facing African American nurses, and education. I score this website a ‘10’. It contains great informat ion. American Holistic Nurses Association This website is focused on increasing awareness of holistic nursing. www.ahna.org The website contains information on holistic nursing, helping to improve the health care workplace through the incorporation of the concepts of holistic nursing, educating patients professionals and the public about holistic nursing and integrative health care, and promoting research and scholarship in the field of holistic nursing. I score this website a ‘7’. It has good information, but not much of it. This website is focused on the specialty practice of psychiatric-mental health nursing, health and wellness promotion through identification of mental health issues, and prevention of mental health problems. www.apna.org The website contains information on the practice of psychiatric nurses, leadership opportunities, continuing education credits, annual conventions, and practice issues facing psychiatric nurses. I give this website a ‘10’. It is dedicated to providing valuable information to it’s population. Great information contained. This website is focused on Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses. The organization dedicated to promoting excellence in hospice and palliative nursing care. www.hpna.org This website is full of valuable information related to nurses practicing in the palliative or hospice fields of nursing. It contains information regarding end of life issues, quality of life issues, policy, and public information. I score this website a ‘10’. It is easy to use and has valuable information. This website on concentrated around nurses caring for gerontological patients. www.ngna.org NGNA is made up of members who share are committed to improving the quality of nursing care to older adults. The website contains links to articles, information regarding education, and discussions of best practice for patient care. I score this website a ‘9’. It has a lot of good information, slightly difficult to navigate. This website contains information relating to visiting nurses. It includes information on infection control, influenza prevention, education offerings, and procedure documents. www.vnaa.org I give this website a ‘6’. I didn’t like the fact that there were several sponsor links on the home page. This to me, makes me feel that some of the information contained may be biased.
