Course Objectives
1. Define Evidence Based Practice, Practice Based Evidence and describe the different levels of
research evidence.
2. Explain the elements of the PICOT model to form appropriate questions for critiquing
scientific evidence.
3. Apply the PICOT to develop clinical or research questions that are relevant for finding
supportive evidence.
4. Identify valid evidence based tools available to clinicians for critical appraisal of scientific
literature related to a clinical topic.
5. Explain why Evidence Based Practice is critical for health care professionals in the current
health care environment across the continuum of care
Each course will offer 1 contact hour of nursing continuing education when you attend the
entire program and submit an evaluation form.
