**Please note that the information below contains bio info about the speaker, what they will be presenting on, the timeframe that they will be in the building, and the grades they are willing to speak to. Presentations will be 20 minutes long. Please look through and choose presentations you would be interested in attending with your students.
AK Steel – Kelly Christensen, Associate Quality Control Metallurgist
Mr. Christensen graduated in May 2005 from Purdue University with a Bachelor's
Degree in Material Science & Engineering. While there he did research and took Grad level courses in the fields Metals, Ceramics and Polymers. Since joining AK Steel, Kelly has been in the Quality Control department, specializing in Middletown, OH plant's pickling, cold reduction, annealing and temper operations and by-products.
Kelly will speak about engineering and it’s relationship to math and science. He will also talk about his area of specialty – metals.

Boonshoft Museum – Robyn Sweet, Earth & Life Sciences Coordinator
Robyn Sweet spent 6 weeks on an ice breaker last year. Her degree is in Marine
Biology.
Robyn will be speaking to students about her Artic expedition and the Bering
Sea.

Burton L. Hagler DDS, Ms, Inc. – Bert Hagler, Orthodontist & Parent of Davis
Hagler (Beekman)
Mr. Hagler was born and raised in Xenia, graduated from Xenia High School in
1984, returned to Xenia in 1995 to work as an orthodontist. He opened an office in
Bellbrook in 1997 and currently resides in the Bellbrook area with his wife, Roxann, and two children Davis (5yrs) and Molly (3 yrs).
Mr. Hagler will be speaking about dental topics (proper oral hygiene, what to expect during a visit to the dentist, etc.).

Community Blood Center – Tracy Morgan, Donor Services Manager
Tracy has worked at the Blood Center for six years educating and communicating about the need for blood and recruiting blood donors. For several years now she has been coming to Mrs. Webb's sixth grade class in Bellbrook to present a program called “My Blood, Your Blood” to educate students about blood biology, blood donation, and blood circulation. Tracy has several years of experience presenting to students of all ages and finds the topic of blood fascinating to talk about! She graduated from Bowling Green State University and UD in the area of Marketing and
Communications.

Tracy will be discussing a little bit about blood donation and blood biology. If there is time, she would like to do an experiment where students "make blood" out of
Kool-aid, water, and ice cubes.

Compunet Clinical Laboratories – Terry Detroit, Clinical Laboratory Scientist
Terry attended University of Wisconsin and Madison Area
Technical College. She has been at Compunet working in Chemistry, Hematology and
Toxicology for 21 years.
She will discuss microbiology and do a demonstration about bacteria found on hands, throats, etc.

Contech Design, Inc. – Rajeev Sinha, Vice President and Director of Corporate
Development
Rajeev Sinha is a graduate of West Carrollton High School. He attended UD and received a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering. He continued at Ohio State and received a Master’s of Business Administration.
Mr. Sinha will discuss engineering school and what a career is engineering consists of.

Design Chemistry, LLC – Shaun Worcester, Senior Webologist
Shaun has been a professional web designer and programmer since 2001. He worked for a few different marketing and IT companies in the Dayton area before coming to Design Chemistry in 2005. His primary strengths are in web site programming and project management, relying on others in the company for their design skills. Outside of work, Shaun is recently married and he and his wife enjoy training for training for various athletic events including the upcoming Flying Pig marathon in May, they are active in their church and they are volunteer missionaries most recently visiting some of the orphans and street children in the Philippines.
Shaun will discuss the process that they go through to collect client information to develop a web site. They will also go through basic code elements behind web design.

Endolite – Alan Kercher, Technical Service & Education Manager
Mr. Kercher was board and raised in UK and moved to America in 1995 to direct technical and clinical services for Endolite Prosthetic Systems.
He will be speaking to students about amputees (including amputee sports). He will also have products that students can touch and feel.

Hr. Billock has a Ph.D. in biophysics and has 21 years of experience in vision research.
He will be discussing vision and optical illusions.

Christy Conley, Quality Superintendent
People from General Motors will speak to students about the automotive manufacturing industry and the various jobs within their company that require engineering, science and technology.

Greene County Sanitary Engineering Department – Karen Hawk, Public Relations
Specialist
Karen Hawk is a graduate of Beavercreek High School and of the University of
Dayton, with a BA in Communication Arts, specialty Journalism. She worked at the
Beavercreek Daily News for 15 years, the last 5 as editor and has been with Greene
County for 15 years, providing information and education on topics that include water, wastewater and solid waste. Ms. Hawk is the Stormwater Coordinator for Greene
County, and is active on the planning committee for the Dayton Children's Water Festival and the Little Miami River Watershed Festival.
Ms. Hawk will be speaking about careers available in the water/wastewater/solid waste areas of public service.

Hilcrest Hearing Aids – Mary Ann Heider, M.Ed. CCC-A Audiologist
Mary Ann has her Masters Degree in Audiology, been working in this field 28 years, and has been with HHA for 23. She came to Dayton in 1984 from a school for deaf children in Massachusetts and worked at Gallaudet College in Washington, D. C., a liberal arts college for deaf students. She also writes a monthly column in The Chronicle , a local publication, and does a monthly radio spot regarding hearing loss on 1290WHIO
AM-95.7 FM.
Mary Ann will be speaking to students about the importance of protecting their hearing and relate that to the use of iPod’s. She will also speak to students about hearing aids.

9:30-11:30 iCAD, Inc. – Topher Gedeon, Senior Software Engineer & Parent of Braden (Davis)
Mr. Gedeon and his wife, Colleen, have lived in Bellbrook for nine years. They have three children: Braeden (6), Mallory (4), and Seth (2). Mr. Gedeon received a degree in Computer Science from Bowling Green State University in 1992 and a Masters of Industrial Technology from Bowling Green State University in 1994.
He will be speaking about being a software engineer and medical images. He will also discuss how a computer can detect cancer in images.

National Air and Space Intelligence Center – Keith Bobick, Computer Engineer &
Parent of Ian (Walblay)
Mr. Bobick has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minor in
Computer Science and he currently works as an engineer in the Airborne Radar Branch at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center.
He will be speaking about computer and electrical engineering.

NCR – Karen Schmitt, Computer Systems Program Manager & Parent of Aaron
(Urschel)
Mrs. Schmitt has a Bachelor's in MIS from Wright State and has started an
International MBA program at UD. She has worked for NCR in Computer Technology for a total of 11 years. During that time, she also temporarily left NCR in 2000 to have some flexibility with her job and family and purchased a Printing Company where she was the Vice President and Co-owner. She returned to NCR in 2005 now that her boys are all in school full-time. Mrs. Schmitt is currently responsible for the computer system that all of NCR’s global salespeople use to quote hardware and software maintenance contracts worldwide.
Mrs. Schmitt will use a PowerPoint presentation to discuss computers in our everyday lives (including ATMs, cash registers, etc.).

South Dayton Surgeons, Inc. – Carol Sawmiller, MD, General Surgeon
Mrs. Sawmiller did her Undergrad at Ohio State University and went to Medical school at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. She did her general surgery residency training at Yale University Affiliate Program and served in the US Navy for 4 years of active duty (was surgeon on aircraft carrier and was deployed to Spain for Iraq
War). She has currently been in a private practice for 4 years.
Mrs. Sawmiller will discuss medicine and surgery.

Sugarcreek Local Schools – Rob Schultz, Math & Computer Science Teacher and
Webmaster & Parent of Zach (Henderson) and Abby (Collier)
Mr. Schultz has his undergraduate degree in Systems Analysis. He worked from
1992 – 1998 in the Information Technology Department at Speedway Super America and has been teaching at Bellbrook for 8 years.
Mr. Schultz will talk about computer programming and web pages.

University of Dayton, Department of Visual Arts – Kate Anderson, Macintosh
Computer Lab Manager/Instructor
Ms. Anderson is an art trained person who embraced technology a long time ago. She has worked in the field of graphic design in Dayton for over 25 years. She enjoys working with young people and has made presentations to school groups as young 1st grade and up to 6th grade. She works with high school and college age people all the time. Currently, she uses discarded computer parts to create sculpture.
Ms. Anderson will be speaking about the many different ways art is used in our lives.

United States Air Force - Brandon Stiles, Aerospace Engineer & Parent of Bryson
(Henderson)
Mr. Stiles is originally from McMinnville, TN. Recently the family moved to
Bellbrook in June 07. Mr. Stiles received his BA from Maryville College (1998), BS
University of Tennessee (Mechanical Engineering)(2000), and Master of Engineering at
Vanderbilt University (2004). Past experience includes manufacturing/quality engineer in automotive industry(2000-2001), Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer at Arnold
Engineering Development Center(2001-2007) and (2007-Present) Aerospace Engineer in Air Force Research Labs. He and his wife Allison have three children Bryson, Alaina and Bella.
Mr. Stiles will speak about the many jobs of an engineer and do a hands-on bridge building exercise.

United States Air Force – Captain Michael Zollars
Captain Zollars has a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Penn State and a
M.S. in aeronautical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology. He has 5 years of active duty service to the Air Force. Captain Zollars is currently assigned to the
Air Vehicles Research Lab at Wright-Patt AFB where he is involved in automation techniques of unmanned vehicles.

Human Factors Engineering Department
Brooke Johnson is a graduate of WSU and has been with the Biomedical,
Industrial & Human Factors Engineering Department for almost 2 years.
She will be speaking on what engineers do.

Wright State University – Dan Krane, Biology Professor & Parent of Sydney
(Boyer)
Dr. Krane is a molecular biologist, meaning that he studies life at a molecular scale -- particularly at the level of DNA (the genetic material. Dr. Krane has testified in over 60 criminal cases all over the world since 1991. The case that he testified in most recently is the largest in the history of the United Kingdom and involved charges that the defendant had left traces of DNA on a bomb that was used by the IRA. He has also been involved in many other high profile trials and investigations including: the OJ
Simpson trial, the Unabomber trial, the first World Trade Center bombing, and the DC sniper shootings. He has been appointed by two governors of Virginia to oversee the policies and practices of that state's Department of Forensic Sciences and has recently returned from a trip to Chile where he helped the government identify the remains of missing persons from the Pinochet era. Dr. Krane is the president of a consulting company (Forensic Bioinformatics, www.bioforensics.com) that reviews DNA testing results from hundreds of cases from around the world each year.
Dr. Krane will be speaking about cells, DNA, and how to use biology to solve crimes.

Wyle – Craig Benson, Research Physicist & Parent of Alex (Baker) and Sarah

Mr. Benson has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Math & Physics, Master’s
Degree in Physics, & an MBA in Operations Research.
He will be giving an overview of Non-Destructive Testing. He will also discuss basic electricity and magnetism and/or acoustics.
