NOTES TO EDITOR - Bristol Festival Community Group is a not for profit charitable organisation that organise Brisfest, and was set up in 2007 following the sad demise of Ashton Court Festival. It was started by a group of volunteers who felt it vital that Bristol retained a not for profit festival to showcase local artists and was officially registered as a charity in 2008. - It is a volunteer-run organisation, led by a board of trustees and comprising a committee of over 200 volunteer members. All proceeds from our events go back into the community festival and supporting our charitable work in training volunteers and providing a major showcase for local talent. - The main objective of the charity is to support and promote music, art and culture in the Southwest, whilst aiding personal development and community cohesion. This is done through staging high profile events that increase exposure for a wide range of local artists, and through a range of training and personal development programmes. - Brisfest was first staged in 2008, attracting 8,000 visitors to the centre of Bristol. In 2012, 20,000 people attended as the festival made a successful move to the Ashton Court Estate, following huge popular demand. Headliners have included De La Soul, Primal Scream and Roni Size alongside a huge range of up and coming local acts. - Brisfest took a fallow year in 2014 in order to plan a large event in 2015. The Arcadia event is being held in place of Brisfest in 2015. Brisfest (normal) will return in 2016, date and location will be announced in early 2016. - Alongside Brisfest we also run the popular Rave-On-Avon events, run venues and stages at any other UK festivals and work behind the scenes on a plethora of other Bristol events promoting local music, art and culture. - We offer skill swap, mentoring and fund professional training and help many local people into full time work each year, offering direct routes into the industry. We provide valuable work experience for 400 people each year, including disadvantaged members of the community and those with additional support needs. Organisations we have worked with previously include Second Step, Big Issue and the Youth Offending Team.
