SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT
‘The Fellowship of the Cultures’ is a youth exchange under the 1.1. Action and it is to take place
in Baia Mare, Romania. The project aims to increase the awareness among young people
regarding the intercultural and interreligious differences and similarities that appear among us.
The activities will take place from 17th to 25th August 2012 involving a total of 20 youngsters
coming from 4 countries around European Union and a candidate one: Romania, Turkey, Italy
and Germany.
Through this project we aim to help the youngsters develop their skills regarding the intercultural
learning, to foster mutual understanding mostly due to religious and different cultures issues and
to get to know and understand them, make usage of non-formal education, to be active citizens
not only in their community, but at the national and international level as well, and to promote
the cooperation inside the youth field.

For 9 days, the participants will attend workshops with topics such as non-formal education,
Youth in Action Programme, partnership building and writing projects together, intercultural
nights with national food and drinks, dances, presenting traditions and cultures, preparing a
theatre play pointing out the stereotypes that are given to the participant countries, preparing and
presenting a wedding with traditions combined from each country present in this project, daily
and final evaluations, games, brain-storming sessions, presentations, role playing, etc. All
activities will be stimulating the participants’ perspective concerning the themes of the project
involving them directly to the nature of the foreseen activities.
HOST ORGANIZATION
YELLOW SHIRTS Association activates at the local level for and with young people.
Our aim is to sustain and help the young people to integrate in the community. In order to
achieve this, our activities are done in such way to promote the active citizenship, solidarity and
tolerance, the cooperation at the local, regional, national and international level, the cultural
diversity, by offering counseling and promoting our members’ and volunteers’ ideas.
Our activities are based on organizing, implementing and participating in local, regional,
national and international training sessions, seminars, exchanges, conferences, debates, work
camps, festivals, or other such events. The activities involve the stimulation of our volunteers’
and members’ creativity, imagination, spirit of gaining new knowledge, solidarity etc. in order to
help them put a basic over their skills by developing their personal interests.
The main domains in which we activate are the culture and arts, sports, environment and health,
human rights and media communications tools according to the present staff, members and
volunteers we have.
PARTICIPANT’S PROFILE
- aged between 18-25, 1-2 persons can be under 18/over 25 years old (except leader – over
18, no age limit)
- capable of speaking, writing and understanding English at least at the medium level
- interested in the activities’ topics
- eager to participate in all activities
- active in the sending body
- eager to embrace different cultures

- ready to experiment different types of food, customs, traditions, style of living
The participant’s profile document (attached) can help you in choosing the participants according
to what the project is aiming to.
COSTS AND TRAVEL
- there is no participation fee
- accommodation, local transportation and other activity costs are covered by the hosting
organization only during the project’s dates (17 – 25 August 2012)
- if participants wish to come earlier or leave later they will have to take into consideration
providing an accommodation on their own; we can help by suggesting different locations
- there will be reimbursed 70% of the total travel costs, and 100% of the visa costs (where
needed)
- tickets bought before 1st May CANNOT be reimbursed (project starts on 1st May)
- the participants can start their travel to/from the project within maximum 3 days (14-28
August 2012); other costs outside these days CANNOT be reimbursed
HEALTH INSURANCE
- the health insurance is fully the participant’s responsibility
- the costs of the health insurance cannot be reimbursed, unless for those that need visa,
within a maximum of 10 EURO
TRANSPORTATION*
- airports: Bucharest, Cluj Napoca, Tirgu Mures, Budapest (HU)
- according to the distance, either trains or buses can be used to get to Baia Mare (Annex 1)
- try to keep your flights (where needed) as cheap as possible

SELECTION OF THE PARTICIPANTS
The application form attached shall be sent for each participant separately (shall be filled in
individually, one application form for each participant) until 15th July 2012 in a single mail. If
the case, the missing participants will be found through other sources. This does NOT mean your
partnership will be cancelled. Please communicate with us any difficulty you have in finding
participants as soon as they appear, to give us time to find the fill in the missing places.
We would appreciate if you will send us the files as soon as you have gathered your group in
order to prepare the accommodation and other materials needed.

The schedule can be seen in Annex 2. If there are activities you did not understand, please let us
know and we will explain the schedule more detailed.
