AMERICAN HISTORICAL PRINT COLLECTORS SOCIETY REGIONAL MEETING Currier Museum Art Center 180 Pearl Street Manchester, New Hampshire 03104 July 31, 2015 11:00-2:00 Please join Andrew Spahr, Director of Collections and Exhibitions, for a special tour of the exhibition, From Birds to Beasts: Audubon’s Last Great Adventure, at the Currier Museum Art Center on Friday, July 31st. While John James Audubon is best known for his depictions of birds, this exhibition focuses on his representations of mammals. The first edition of Audubon’s Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America was published in 1845-1848 and included 150 hand-colored lithographs by J. T. Bowen of Philadelphia, based on drawings by Audubon and his sons. The prints currently on display belong to New Hampshire Audubon, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2014. The program will begin will a guided tour of the exhibition, followed by lunch on your own in the museum café. After lunch, Rebecca Ronstadt, curator of New Hampshire Audubon, will provide further insights into the collection and there will be a chance for AHPCS members to see additional prints not on view to the public.
