Terms and Conditions
By entering the “Channel Seven and News Ltd Launch” competition, you are agreeing to the
following terms and conditions:
1.
STANDARD TERMS
1.1
Information about how to enter forms part of the terms of entry.
2.
WHO CAN ENTER?
2.1
Subject to clause 2.2, entry is open to all residents of NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD & SA where
The Sunday Telegraph, The Sunday Herald Sun, Sunday Mail or The Sunday Mail is
distributed.
2.1.1
Residents outside the metropolitan zones, who do not receive the Channel 7 signal are
eligible to enter the competition via the accurate registration of their unique code. They
will not be notified of their winnings on air, but rather via telephone. Details of these
entrants will still be aired on Channel 7 within the metropolitan zones.
2.2
Employees and their immediate families of Seven Network (Operations) Limited, News
Limited, m.Net Corporation Ltd, and their associated agencies and companies are not
eligible to enter.
3.
HOW TO ENTER
3.1
The competition commences on Sunday 1 February 2009 at 00:01 (AEDT) and
concludes on Thursday 5 February 2009 at 12:30 (AEDT) (“the Competition Period).
3.2
In order to enter, entrants must obtain the News Limited Sunday newspaper – The
Sunday Telegraph, The Sunday Herald Sun, Sunday Mail or The Sunday Mail. On the
front of their television guide inserted inside each of these newspapers a unique code will
be printed on the front cover.
3.3
In order to enter:
NSW/ACT and VIC residents must either:
a)
ring 1902 55 77 77 and register their full name, daytime contact phone
number and unique number; or
b)
send a text message/SMS to 19 775 777 with their full name and unique
number.
QLD and SA residents must either:
a)
ring 1902 55 77 06 and register their full name, daytime contact phone
number and unique number; or
b)
send a text message/SMS to 19 777 377 with their full name and unique
number.
Once registered, entrants will be entered into a draw and daily winners will be drawn from
this pool. Once registered, your entry will be valid for each draw from the time of entry

Only one unique code per entry is permitted. Unrecognised codes will not be accepted.
Participants may enter as many times as they like but only one entry per unique code is
permitted. Only one prize per unique code is permitted (SA residents are entitled to win
more than one prize).
3.5
For SMS entrants, each entry must be charged to a mobile account and SMS entries via
the internet, computer generation or “scripting” are invalid and will not be accepted.
3.6
Daily entries must be received by the offline time as per the table in Clause 3.3. The time
of entry will in each case be the time the SMS message or 1902 telephone call is
received by the m.Net Corporation Ltd database.
3.7
Each SMS entry will be charged at premium rate, namely $0.55 (including GST), which
covers the entry and the reply message.
3.8
The maximum 1902 call cost is $0.55 (including GST). 1902 call costs will be higher from
mobile phones.
3.9
SMS entrants will receive a reply message to their entry.
3.10
All entrants under the age of 18 must obtain the prior permission of a parent or guardian
over the age of 18 to enter.
3.11
By entering, all entrants accept that if they are the winner their details (first name,
surname and code) will be displayed on the screen where the channel 7 signal is
received.
3.12
The Promoters reserve the right to request winners to provide proof of entry validity
(including the front cover of the Television Guide which includes the unique code) and
identity in order to claim a prize. In the event that a winner cannot provide suitable proof,
the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.
4.
PRIZES
4.1
There will be 20 winners in total. There will be 4 daily winners – one winner per market,
per day (NSW/ACT, VIC, QLD & SA). Each winner will win the prize as set out below.
4.2

Total prize value is $200,000 including GST. Prize value is correct as at the date of
printing. The Promoters accepts no responsibility for change in prize value between now
and the ultimate date on which the prize is taken.
4.3
In accepting the prizes, the winners agree to participate and co-operate as required in all
editorial activities relating to the Competition, including but not limited to being
interviewed and photographed. The winners agree to grant the Promoter’s a perpetual
and non-exclusive licence to use such footage and photographs in all media worldwide
and the winner’s will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
4.5
The winners agree they will not sell or otherwise provide their story and/or photographs to
any media or other organisation.
4.6
The Prize will be awarded in the form of a cheque. Winners should seek independent
financial advice about any tax implications that may arise from the prize winnings.
4.7

5.
HOW TO WIN
5.1
There will be 20 winners drawn from the pool of entrants. Each entrant who has entered
the competition over the duration of the Competition Period using a mobile phone with a
reply path and whose SMS message has passed through the Telco carriers network to
m.Net Corporation Ltd’s database, or entrants who phoned the 1902 number and who
register all details required by the daily offline times in Clause 3.3 will be entered into the
draw. The draw will take place at m.Net Corporation Ltd, Level 2, 8 Leigh Street,
Adelaide, South Australia 5000 on the dates and times specified in the table in Clause
3.3. Entries that do not contain the information required by clause 3.3 or that do not
otherwise comply with clause 3 may be deemed to be invalid and Will not be included in
the draw.
5.2
Winners will be notified on screen. Channel 7 will display the first name and surname of
the winner. Winners will also be notified by a phone call within 2 days of the draw date
and will also receive a letter advising the winners of their prize. Winners’ names will be
published in the Public Notices section of The Daily Telegraph (NSW), The Herald Sun
(VIC) & The Advertiser (SA) on Monday 9 February 2009. Daily winners will also be
announced during primetime on Channel 7 each night as per the table in Clause 3.3.
5.3
The Promoter’s decision is final and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence
regarding the result.
5.4
It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner must comply with all the conditions
of use of the prize and prize supplier’s requirements.
5.5
It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner may be required to sign a legal
release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
5.6
Subject to state government legislation, an unclaimed prize draw will take place at m.Net
Corporation Ltd, Level 2, 8 Leigh Street, Adelaide, South Australia 5000 on Monday 8
June 2009 at 10:00 (AEDT) and winner(s) will be published in the Public Notes section of
The Australian newspaper on Monday 15 June 2009.
6.
NO LIABILITY
6.1
In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or
significantly hinders the Promoter’s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates
and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to
vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike,
war, act of terrorism, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the competition
and recommence it from the start on the same conditions, subject to state government
legislation.
6.2
Seven Network (Operations) Limited & affiliates, News Limited, m.Net Corporation Ltd
and their associated agencies and companies will take no responsibility for prizes
damaged or lost in transit, or late, lost or misdirected mail.
6.3
Seven Network (Operations) Limited & affiliates, News Limited, m.Net Corporation Ltd
and their associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any misadventure,
accident, injury, loss or claim that may occur:
a) during the draw;
b) whilst undertaking any travel connected with their entry into the draw;
c) in the participation of any element purchased with the prize;
d) as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected mail;
e) due to the broadcast of any program relating to the competition or the publication of
any material, including any statements made by any compere, staff member,
journalist, other entrants or any other person;
f)
in relation to failure of an SMS entry message to be received by the Promoter on
account of technical problems or traffic congestion; or
g) from or related to any problem or technical malfunction of any telephone network or
lines or mobile communications network related to or resulting from participation in
this promotion.
6.4
Seven Network (Operations) Limited and News Limited assume no responsibility for any
error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission,
communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of
entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available.
6.5
If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned, due to causes
including but not limited to tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures
or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoters which corrupt or affect the
administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the
Promoters reserve the right in its discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with
the entry process, take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify
or suspend the competition.
7.
PROMOTER’S DETAILS
7.1
The Promoter’s are Seven Network (Operations) Limited (ABN 65 052 845 262) of Level
2, 38-42 Pirrama Road, Pyrmont, NSW 2009 and News Limited (ABN 47 007 871 178) of
2 Holt Street, Surry Hills NSW 2010.
Entry details remain the property of the Promoters. m.Net Corporation Ltd, on behalf of
Seven Network Limited (ABN 65 052 816 789), its related entities (“Seven”) and News
Ltd, are collecting entrants’ personal information for the purpose of conducting and
promoting this competition (including but not limited to determining and notifying winners),
and, if you consent, for the purpose of Seven/News Ltd sending you promotional and
direct marketing material in relation to Seven’s/News Ltd’s products and services
available through Seven and its business partners. The entrant may request access to
his or her personal information by writing to Privacy Officer, m.Net Corporation Ltd., Level
