SECTION 07411 - MANUFACTURED ROOF PANELS
PART 1 - GENERAL

RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Special
Conditions and Division 1 Specifications Sections, apply to this Section.
SUMMARY
A. This Section includes the following:
1. Formed custom roof panels of type and profile indicated over air/vapor barrier,
nailable sub-base underlayment and insulation. Also included are all related flashing,
trims and accessories.
1.3
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
A. General: Provide manufactured roof panel assemblies complying with performance
requirements indicated and capable of withstanding structural
movement, thermally
induced movement, and exposure to weather without failure or infiltration of water into
the building interior.
B. Air Infiltration: Provide manufactured roof panel assemblies with permanent
resistance to air leakage through assembly of not more than 0.09 cfm/sq. ft. of fixed
roof area when tested according to ASTM E 283 at a static-air-pressure difference of
4.0lbf/sq. ft.
C. Water Penetration: Provide manufactured roof panel assemblies with no water
penetration as defined in the test method when tested according to ASTM E 331 at a
minimum differential pressure of 20 percent of inward acting, wind-load design pressure
of not less than 6.24 lb/sq. ft. and not more than 12.0 lb/sq. ft.
D. Wind-Uplift Resistance: Provide roof panel assemblies that meet requirements of UL
580 for Class 90 wind-uplift resistance.
E. Structural Performance: Provide manufactured roof panel composite assemblies which
are capable of withstanding design loads indicated under in-service conditions as
established by ASCE 7-05 analysis with vertical deflection no greater than the following
when tested in accordance with ASTM E 330:
1. Maximum Deflection: L/175 of the span.

SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: Include manufacturer’s product specifications, standard details,
certified product test results, and general recommendations, as applicable to
materials and finishes for each component and for panel assemblies.
B. Shop Drawings: Show layouts of panels on roof, details of edge conditions,
joints, panel profiles, supports, anchorage, trim, flashing, underlayment, closures,
snow guards, and special details. Distinguish between factory and fieldassembled work.
C. Samples for Verification: Provide sample panels 12 inches long by actual panel
width, in the style, color, and texture indicated. Include clips, caps, battens,
fasteners, closures, and other exposed panel accessories.
D. Qualification Data: For firms and persons specified in the “Quality Assurance”
Article to demonstrate their capabilities and experience. Include manufacturer’s
certification of qualifications, lists of completed projects with project names and
addresses, names and addresses of project architects and owners, and any other
information necessary to verify qualifications.
E. Product Test Reports: Indicate compliance of manufactured roof panel
assemblies and materials with performance and other requirements based on
comprehensive testing of current products.
F. Mock-Up: Construct a mock-up of the roofing system for establishing appearance. Size
of mock-up shall be as shown and specified on the architectural drawings. Mock-up may
not become part of the completed construction.
G. Provide material cleaning instructions and recommendation to be included in
Operations and Maintenance Manuals.
H. For installed products indicated to comply with certain design loading, include
structural analysis data prepared in accordance with ASCE 7-05, signed and
sealed by a licensed professional engineer.
1.5
QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Qualifications of Manufacturer: Use a manufacturer who has been certified to the
ISO 9001:2008 standard. Manufacturer must provide a copy of the ISO Certificate as part
of the submittal process. Manufacturer must also have a minimum of ten (10) years
experience in the manufacture of custom architectural sheet metal systems.

B. Manufacturer’s On-site Representation: Provide a manufacturer’s representative to
provide part-time inspection of roofing system installation. Submit
construction/installation progress reports and a final inspection report to the
Owner’s Authorized Representative and the Architect.
C. Installer Qualifications: The Installer shall be certified by the manufacturer. The installer
shall have completed metal roof panel projects similar in material, design, and extent to
that indicated for this Project and have a documented record of successful in-service
performance.
D. Professional Engineer Qualifications: A professional engineer who is legally licensed to
practice in the jurisdiction where the Project is located.
E. Fire-Test-Response Characteristics: Where fire resistance rated roof panel
assemblies are indicated, provide materials and construction identical to those of
assemblies tested for fire resistance per ASTM E 119 by an independent testing
inspecting agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction.

DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Deliver panels and other components so they will not be damaged or deformed. Package
panels for protection against damage during transportation or handling.
B. Handling: Exercise care in unloading, storing, and erecting roof panels to prevent
bending, warping, twisting, and surface damage.
C. Stack material on platforms or pallets, covered with tarpaulins or other suitable weathertight and ventilated covering. Store panels to ensure dryness. Do not store panels on
contact with other materials that might cause staining, denting, or other surface damage.
1.7
PROJECT CONDITIONS
A. Field Measurements: Verify location of structural members and openings in
substrates by field measurements before fabrication and indicate measurements on Shop
Drawings. Coordinate fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid delaying
the work.
1. Established Dimensions: Take accurate field measurements before panels are
made without delaying the work, establish dimensions and proceed with
fabricating roof panels. Without field measurements product will be fabricated in
accordance with dimensions noted on approved shop drawings. Coordinate roof
construction to ensure actual locations of structural members and to ensure opening
dimensions correspond to
established dimensions.

WARRANTY

A. General Warranty: Special warranties specified in the Article shall not deprive the Owner
of other rights the Owner may have under other provisions of the Contract Documents
and shall be in addition to, and run concurrent with, other warranties made by the
Contractor under requirements of the Contract Document.
B. Special Finish Warranty: Submit a written warranty, signed by finish applicator, covering
failure of the factory-applied exterior paint finish on metal roof panels within the
specified warranty period and agreeing to repair finish or replace roof panels that show
evidence of finish deterioration. Deterioration of finish includes, but is not limited to,
color fade, chalking, cracking, peeling, and loss of film integrity.
1. Paint Finish Warranty Period: 20 years from date of Substantial Completion.
2. Special Weather-tight Warranty: Submit a written single-source warranty,
executed by the roofing system manufacturer agreeing to repair or replace the
metal roof panel assembly that fails to remain weather-tight within the
specified warranty period. The 20 year Weather-tight Warranty shall include
all
flashing, roof panels, and all other metal system components. The hanging/built-in
gutters shall be warranted for five years.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1
METAL PANEL ROOF SYSTEM
A. Product and Manufacturer - Basis of Design:

1. Profile: Custom EVOLUTION Roof System as indicated.
2. Gutter System: Provide metal gutter system with welded/soldered seams and
expansion joints.
3. Movement: Provide for independent movement of all roof components consistent
with a thermal range of 120 degrees F and consistent with anticipated movement of
building structure.
4. Replacement of Panels: Provide for the non-destructive selection removal and
replacement of individual roof components.
5. Panel system shall have continuous extruded internal drainage channel and
compression cover cap.

METALS AND FINISHES

A. Sheets: Aluminum 18 gauge (0.040 inches) 3003-H14 alloy with a two coat Pvdf2 finish
in a standard color as selected by the architect.
1. Panel Infill Board, factory applied to the underside of all panels, is required.
Material shall be un-faced, pre-formed, rigid, cellular, polyisocyanurate thermal
insulation complying with ASTM C 591, Type 2, thermal-resistance values for 1inch thickness of 6.2 degrees F x h x sq. ft./Btu at 75 degrees F.
B. Internal Drainage Channel and Compression Cover Plate: Overly type “EVOLUTION”;
0.056 inches thick minimum and 0.125 inches nominal thickness, each in a 6063 alloy
aluminum T-5 temper.
C. Fasteners: System fasteners shall be concealed and no less than a #12 stainless steel wood
screw shall be used to anchor the internal drain channel; length as required for substrate
construction.
2.3
UNDERLAYMENT MATERIALS
A. Self-Adhering, Sheet Underlayment:
1. Available Products: Subject to compliance with requirements, products that may be
incorporated into the Work include, but are not limited to the following:
a. Self-adhering air and water barrier membrane with a minimum 90 day UV
exposure rating.
2.4
MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS
A. General: Provide materials and accessories required for a complete roof panel assembly
and as recommended by panel manufacturer, unless otherwise indicated.
B. Accessories: Unless otherwise specified, provide components required for a complete
roof panel assembly including trim, copings, fascia, mullions, sills, corner units, ridge
closures, clips, seam covers, battens, flashing, gutters, sealants, gaskets, fillers, closure
strips, and similar items. Match materials and finishes of roof panels.
C. Fasteners: Type tested and approved to secure roof panel system in accordance with UL
and uplift requirements.
D. Plywood: Refer to Section 06100, Rough Carpentry.
E. Paper Slip Sheet: 5-lb/square red rosin, sized building paper conforming to FS UU-B790, Type 1, Style 1b.

FABRICATION
A. General: Fabricate and finish panels and accessories at the factory to greatest
extent possible, by manufacturer’s standard procedures and processes, as
necessary to fulfill indicated performance requirements demonstrated by laboratory
testing. Comply with indicated profiles and with dimensional and structural requirements.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1
EXAMINATION
A. Examine substrates and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with
requirements indicated for conditions affecting performance of metal panel roofing.
1. Panel Supports and Anchorage: Examine roof framing to verify that purlins,
angles, channels, and other secondary structural panel support members and
anchorage have been installed according to written instructions of
manufacturer.
2. Do not proceed with roof panel installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been
corrected.
3.2
PREPARATION
A. Coordinate metal panel roofing with rain drainage work; flashing; trim; and construction
of decks, parapets, walls, and other adjoining work to provide a leak-proof, secure, and
non-corrosive installation.
B. Promptly remove protective film, if any, from exposed surfaces of metal panels. Strip
with care to avoid damage to finish.
3.3
INSTALLATION
A. General: Comply with panel manufacturer’s written instructions and recommendations
for installation, as applicable to project conditions and supporting substrates. Anchor
panels and other components of the work securely in place, with provisions for thermal
and structural movement.
1. Field cutting exterior panels by torch is not permitted.
2. Install panels with approved fasteners.
3. Install plywood substrate, underlayment, and slip sheet material in accordance with
material manufacturer’s instructions and recommendations.

B. Accessories: Install components required for a complete roof panel as assembly
including trim, copings, fascia, ridge closures, clips, seam covers, battens, flashings,
gutters, sealants, gaskets, fillers, closure strips, and similar items.
C. Installation Tolerances: Shim and align panel units within installed tolerance of 3/8 inch
in 40 foot slope and location lines as indicated and within 1/8-inch offset of adjoining
faces and of alignment of matching profiles.
3.4
FIELD TESTING
A. Conduct 10 random fastener pull tests in accordance with this section in areas designed
by the Owner’s Authorized Representative, and submit test results for the comparison to
design requirements.
B. Block gutter drains and fill with water. Let stand for 24 hours. Repair gutter as required
and retest until gutters are watertight.
3.5
CLEANING AND PROTECTING
A. Damaged Units: Replace panels and other components of the work that have been
damaged or have deteriorated beyond successful repair by finish touchup or similar minor
repair procedures.
B. Cleaning: Remove temporary protective coverings and strippable films, if any, as soon as
each panel is installed. On completion of panel installation, clean finished surfaces as
recommended by panel manufacturer and maintain in a clean condition during
construction.
C. Protection: Do not permit unnecessary walking on finished roof. Require all personnel to
wear rubber-soled shoes when walking on or installing this roof system.
