Creative Assignment: Planning a Party for his Homecoming

For this assignment, you will be responsible for planning a party to celebrate Crabbe’s return to civilization.

You will need to complete the following components:

1.

Explain whom the party is for and what it is celebrating. Is it just Crabbe’s return? Is it his reconciliation with parents and teachers? Is it something he has learned on his journey? Explain.

2.

Give the address of the party and the time.

3.

Identify your guests: who they are and why they have been invited. Consider all characters, living and dead, as well as young people who might benefit from hearing about Crabbe’s experience.

4.

Design an invitation that you will send to each guest. Try to make the design relevant to the novel in some way. Be prepared to explain the connection.

5.

Describe the food and beverages that will be served.

6.

Choose two people to give speeches during the evening. Explain who these people are and read their speeches.

POTENTIAL SPEAKERS: Mr. Crabbe, Mrs. Crabbe, Dr. Browne, Principal, a teacher, a fellow student, one of the hunters, the good Samaritan, boss, even Mary.

7.

Conclude by having someone (explain who) present an award or present to Crabbe and read what the person will say. Explain the significance of the gift to Crabbe’s experience.

If you wish, you may bring some treats to class to contribute to a class party celebrating the completion of Crabbe.

Remember to refer to lots of specific details from the text.

You written work will be handed in with your presentation.
