Lieutenant William C. Dickey
Assistant United States Army Attaché to Indonesia
Lieutenant Colonel William C. Dickey, United States Army, received his
commission from the United States Air Force Academy in 1988. After interservice transferring to the United States Army as an infantry officer, he attended
infantry training at Fort Benning, Georgia.
LTC Dickey served as a platoon leader and a battalion S-3 Air operations
officer with the 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne (Air Assault)
Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He commanded a company and served as
the S-3 operations officer at the 4th Ranger Training Battalion at Fort Benning,
Georgia. LTC Dickey again commanded a company at the 3d Infantry Regiment,
the official ceremonial unit for the President of the United States, at Fort Myer,
Virginia. Additionally, while posted at Fort Myer, LTC Dickey served as a White
House Military Social Aide.
While assigned to the United States European Command, J-3 Operations,
at Stuttgart, Germany, as a ground operations planner, he deployed to
Macedonia and Kosovo in support of Operation Joint Guardian. After his service
in the Balkans, LTC Dickey was assigned to the Pentagon at Washington, D.C.,
and served as a media relations officer and a speechwriter at the Office of the
Chief of Public Affairs, Department of the Army.
LTC Dickey then served as the executive officer of the International
Military Student Officer Division at the United States Army Command and
General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Then, he was posted to Islamabad, Pakistan, as the Assistant United
States Army Attaché, in the Defense Attaché Office, at the United States
Embassy, where he supported Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation
Lifeline, which was the Pakistani earthquake relief effort.
Currently, LTC Dickey serves as the Assistant United States Army Attaché
in Jakarta, Indonesia.
LTC Dickey’s military education includes the infantry Officer Basic and
Advanced Courses and the United States Army Command and General Staff
College. His military training includes the United States Army Air Assault,
Airborne, Jumpmaster, Pathfinder and Ranger Schools.
