Program Goals
1. Students will learn to analyze and
synthesize short texts at the literal
(propositional) level.

Writing Goals
Students will analyze short written
texts for accuracy and cohesion.
Students will synthesize information
from sources into short, original
written texts on personal/concrete
topics.
2. Students will learn to create short
written and spoken texts to express
their own ideas and to represent the
ideas of others.
Students will produce short, original
written texts on a number of personal
and concrete topics such as the
description of people, preferences,
places, and regularly occurring
activities.
Students will summarize texts (written
or spoken) that describe, narrate,
