Western Civilization II – Spring 2010
Unit 8: The Twentieth Century
Student Presentation Information

By Friday, 3/19, everyone should sign up for a presentation during our last unit. The sign-up sheets are located
outside of your Western Civ. classroom. If your name is not on the sign-up sheet by 7 AM Friday, you will be
assigned to a group.

The days on which student presentations will occur are: 4/5, 4/16, 4/28 and 5/10. Please note that these dates are
tentative, and if the schedule changes, you will be notified.

Because grades need to be finalized, SENIORS must present on 4/5, 4/16 or 4/28.

Three presentations will be given on the “presentation days.” General topics for each presentation are listed on the
sign-up sheet, and a more detailed list of topics will be provided on the course webpage.

Images for your presentations will be provided through documents on the course webpage. Please utilize this
resource fully. This is being done in order to help you focus your energy on researching your topic, not simply
searching for images. You will be graded on the content of your presentation, not just the images!

Drop boxes will be created in the “Classes” folder for your presentation materials. All presentation materials must
be in the drop box by 7 AM on the scheduled presentation days. Not having materials submitted by this time will
result in a 4 point (10%) deduction from your presentation grade. You will only be allowed to use materials from the
drop box during your group’s presentation.

Over the course of this unit, there are 12 presentations to be given in each class and each presentation will be given
by a group of 2-3 people. Here is a break down by class, according to class size:
 5th hour has 22 students, so there will be ten groups of 2 and two individual presentations.
 6th hour has 17 students, so there will be five groups of 2 and seven individual presentations.

This will be a 40 point grade in the written work category. A rubric of how the presentations will be graded will be
posted on the webpage.

The other grade related to this assignment is your bibliography. This should be a works consulted list of all sources
consulted in the creation of your presentation. To get you started, here is a list of materials I expect that you will
use.
