We have had a very successful Magnet application period again this year. In August 2011, RJR will be accepting about 170 rising 9th and 10th graders via magnet application. These students come to us from 35 area schools. The largest single middle school contingency will be from Hanes Magnet School and represents just over 26% of all acceptances this year. Another 38% are coming from Clemmons, Paisley and Jefferson middle schools and area private and parochial schools -- all schools with strong arts programs. The other 30 or so schools sending students next year have equal representation in the applicant pool and represent students truly interested in learning through the arts. Thank you for helping us create a very strong applicant pool this year. Auditions for both current RJR students and new magnet students will be the weekend of March 5-6 with specific audition information TBA in the next newsletter. Please encourage all rising ninth graders and new magnet students to attend Reynolds Review on February 17. Important Arts magnet information will be shared that evening. The next Arts Express trip is February 24th. Students will see “Grapes of Wrath” at Wake Forest University. This performance is included in Arts Express season tickets. Students may also purchase individual tickets in the magnet office through February 17th. February is Career and Technical Education Month.
