Auburn Hills, MI (June 9, 2006) – Guardian Industries is pleased to announce that
Hurd Windows & Doors has chosen ClimaGuard SPF™ glass as an addition to their
ComfortGlaze™ line-up. ClimaGuard SPF blocks over 99 percent of ultraviolet (UV)
radiation without any visible change in day lighting.
UV radiation is largely responsible for the fading and deterioration of furniture, carpets,
hardwood floors and other interior furnishings. While Low-E glass is often
recommended to minimize the damaging effects of ultraviolet radiation exposure,
independent test results confirm that even the highest performing Low-E products fail to
provide an acceptable level of fade protection for typical home furnishings. Traditional
Low-E products provide a Fade Protection Factor (FPF) of 7 whereas ClimaGuard SPF
provides an FPF of 50+.
