SENTENCES on your own paper. You may use your textbook.

1. What is an action verb?
2. What two types of actions are there?
3. List 10 physical actions and 5 mental actions. (Hint: What are 10 physical
activities you do in PE that are verbs—and 5 mental verbs like activities you
do in the classroom? These answers are not in your book. THINK! THINK!

4. Complete Exercise 2 found on page 400. Answers only are fine, but you
must come up with 10 DIFFERENT words.
5. Explain the difference(s) in transitive and intransitive verbs.
6. Complete Exercise 4 found on page 402. Follow the book’s directions—yes,
this time you do need to write each sentence.
7. What is a linking verb?
8. What does a linking verb do? (Look for this answer right above the
definition you found for #7.)
