Advising Checklist for the B.S. Degree in Microbiology Updated for Fall 2008 Microbiology majors must have a minimum of 36 credits in upper division microbiology with a 2.0 minimum grade point average. All students must take MB 302, 303, 310, 311, & 312. In addition, 22 hours of 400-level microbiology are required; 2 hours must come from a 400 level MB laboratory class. BOT 350 (Introduction to Plant Pathology) and BOT 461 (Mycology) count as 400-level microbiology. Research (401)/Reading and Conference (405)/Thesis (403)/Internship (410) cannot account for more than 3 of the 22 required hours; teaching experience (406) can account for 3 hours as well. Any additional hours in these areas will count as elective credit. All required science courses (MTH 251, 252; CH 221, 222, 223, 331, 332, 337; PH 201, 202, 203; BB 450, 451; BI 211, 212, 213, 314; ST 351; or acceptable substitutes) & MB courses must be taken for a grade. CH 324 can be taken S/U but not if student wants a chemistry minor. CH 390 cannot be substituted for CH 324.
