Job Description for India Office – Alumni and External Relations Director The Foundation For Excellence, Inc. (FFE) a non-profit organization based in California, USA (www.ffe.org) and the Foundation For Excellence India Trust (FFE IT), a charitable organization registered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, invite applications for the position of Alumni and External Relations Director at their Bengaluru office. This is a full-time position and requires frequent evening and weekend hours and some travel within India. The mission of the FFE organizations is to bring about a transformation in the lives of bright and needy students in India. The mission is accomplished through a Scholarship Program that provides financial and other assistance to eligible students to complete their higher education in India. More than 4,000 students from 25 states in India have completed their higher education with FFE assistance until now. These students are referred to as FFE Scholars. A Managing Committee comprised of 7 members and based in Bengaluru provides guidance for FFE Inc.’s operations in India. A Board of Trustees is similarly responsible for the operations of the Trust. The Alumni and External Relations Director is a senior position reporting directly to the Operations Director of the FFE India Trust and the Chair of the Managing Committee. The responsibilities of the Alumni Relations Director include the following functions: Establish, build, and maintain strong and productive relationships with FFE Scholars donors, and corporate partners at local, regional, national and international levels. Maintain regular contact with Scholars, donors and corporates through various media and forms (telephone, emails and web-based technology, social media networks, correspondence, and occasional personal contacts and visits). Work with the Trustees and Managing Committee on fund-raising initiatives including (1) identification of potential donors, creation of a database, and making pitches to donors and (2) conceiving and organizing fund-raising events. Lead efforts to maintain and develop all forms of online and direct mail communications with Scholars, donors and corporates. Work with Scholars for the formal establishment of the FFE Scholars Association organization at a national level; help in setting chapters and organizing chapter events throughout India. Along with the Managing Trustee and Management Committee, serve as liaison with the FFE Scholars Association. Recruit, orient and direct volunteer leaders responsible for alumni and donor event planning, programming and implementation. Events may be of social or professional character on behalf of the FFE organizations and the Scholars Association. In partnership with corporate donors and employed scholars, plan, manage and make accessible the career networking services for current students and Scholars. Coordinate and support communications that enhance effective alumni involvement with the FFE organizations, including the alumni section of FFE E-Newsletters and magazines. Provide assistance to the Scholars Association for the production of their specialized newsletters, as required. Work to effectively tap on Scholars as a sustainable source for funds/donations/contributions to the FFE organizations. Work with the Operations Director to ensure that the Scholars and donor database is current and accurate. Partner with the Operations Director to strengthen the effective involvement of Scholars in the Scholarship Program. Plan donor appreciation events 2-3 times during the year in different cities. Enhance the involvement of Scholars in FFE activities by way of time, money, skills and experience. Other matters as may be assigned by the FFE Boards and Managing Committee. Required education, experience, skills and knowledge include: Bachelor’s degree in any field Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including ability to give presentations and interact with diverse groups through various media and means. Knowledge of fundraising and philanthropic principles. Experience in outreach, networking and communications efforts. Ability to plan, execute and evaluate programs and events Demonstrated management skills for effective dealing with volunteers and staff. Effectively manage and work with scholars and volunteers involved with the Scholars Association. Outgoing personality with good social skills. Knowledge of social and professional networks and web based applications and strategies. Knowledge of customer relations management software and technology for mass email and postal mail and communications. Proficient in fund raising database management, as well as Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access. Preferred qualifications: Familiarity with management of alumni and donor relations in a higher education institution. Experience of working in a non-profit or voluntary organization or alumni relations office of a higher education institution. HR professionals specialized in staff relations, PR professionals and Mass Communications Specialists Compensation: Annual salary is dependent on qualifications and experience but is expected to be at least Rs. 4,00,000 per year.
