H.R. No. 809 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Calvin B. Harrison of Coldspring suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of this valiant soldier on September 29, 2010, at the age of 31; and WHEREAS, Assigned to Company A, 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Sergeant Harrison was killed while bravely serving his country in Afghanistan; and WHEREAS, Born on March 11, 1979, he attended Jones High School, where he enjoyed playing basketball and football; a loving son and brother, he was also a devoted father to his daughters, Azalia and Eleanna; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Harrison joined the military in 1999 as a psychological operations specialist; his skill and dedication to duty earned him the Green Beret as a Special Forces medical sergeant, as well as such honors as the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Achievement Medal; and WHEREAS, Through his unwavering dedication to duty and honor, Calvin Harrison embodied the highest ideals of the United States armed forces, and his fellow citizens owe him a debt of gratitude that the passage of time can never diminish; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Page - 1 - H.R. No. 809 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Calvin B. Harrison and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his children, Azalia and Eleanna; to his mother, Betty Harrison; to his father, Jack Washington; to his siblings, Demetric Harrison and Deborah, Diane, and Zach Washington; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sergeant First Class Calvin B.
