Subject: Reading and Language Arts Syllabi

Course Description:
We are going to introduce 26 letters in alphabetical order and follow the program
of “Sing, Spell, Read & Write” that used carefully sequenced, systematic, explicit
phonics instruction to develop fluent, independent readers. This approach is the
most effective way to encourage a child’s growth in reading. Phonics instruction
introduces students to various sound-letter relationships in a clearly defined
sequence and provides students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge of
these relationships as they begin to read and write.
After students understand and apply concepts of print, phonological, and
phonemic awareness. They expand their oral language skills and gain
meaningful vocabulary for reading. Phonetic storybooks help students to review
what they learned and development appropriate vocabulary and high frequency
words to the easy decoding in the text. Then students will move forward to
becoming emergent readers and eventually be independent reader of on-leveltext.
