Why is this business or entrepreneur an ideal candidate to win funds from UN
micro-credit contest? Information on overcoming past obstacles or on future
plans can be helpful.
My husband has been lost for eleven years already. I don’t know whether he is still alive or
already dead.
When I lost my husband, my children were still very small and I was the only one to support them
and to feed them. I decided to start my tailoring business so I can provide food for my children.
Despite my income, there are still so many problems our family was facing then.
Then war came in Afghanistan and I was forced to migrate to Pakistan with my children. When
Karzai became the President of Afghanistan, I decided to come back to Kabul. When I came back
to Kabul, I was able to participate in a Beauty Parlor Training given by CARE’s HAWA
(Humanitarian Assistance for the Widows in Afghanistan) Project. After I have finished the
training in two months, I opened my own Beauty Parlor Shop. I borrowed money from our savings
and credit group in our district organized by CARE. I run my business smoothly that it can cover
all its expenses, paid back my loan, sent my children to school and trained two other girls in this
profession.
Now my Beauty Parlor Shop is one of the famous beauty parlor shops in our area as I really tried to
do my best in providing services to my clients. I know that by doing this, my clients will inform
their friends and relatives and I will have more clients for my business. I need to do well in this
profession because this will help me and my family to have a better life.
I hope by receiving more loans I would be able expand further my business and be able to train
more students and employ them in my shop.
