1. Do You Have Asthma?
The Asthma Research Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital is recruiting asthmatics
aged 18 and older for a research study to determine the best strategy for Asthma in the
long term. We evaluate three approaches to adjusting the inhaled corticosteroid
medications. All study medication will be provided and they are FDA approved. The
study involves up to 12 visits over 44 weeks. Compensation is up to $2,075.

2. Seeking recently menopausal healthy women aged 42-58, who have not had a
hysterectomy, for hormone research study.
The Kronos Early Estrogen Prevention Study (KEEPS) at Brigham and Women's
Hospital, Harvard Medical School is conducting research to learn whether Hormone
Therapy (HT) has protective effects on the heart and arteries of women who have
recently (within 3 years) entered menopause, as well as to better understand the effects of
HT on quality of life, memory and thinking. KEEPS participants will undergo health
screens at the beginning of the study and will be followed closely during four years of
treatment, which will include either a low dose estrogen pill or skin patch plus a natural
micronized progesterone capsule or a placebo (contains no active medication) pill, skin
patch and capsule. Participants can receive up to $650. Screening tests and parking are at

3. Prospective Study of cardiac rhabdomyomas in children:
An investigation of their natural history and association with Tuberous Sclerosis
Complex
Do you have a child under the age of 1 that has been diagnosed with a Cardiac
Rhabdomyoma?
We are currently enrolling patients at the Herscot Center for Tuberous Sclerosis Complex
at the Massachusetts General Hospital to undergo genetic testing for Tuberous Sclerosis
Complex and to be followed by a pediatric cardiologist, pediatric neurologist, and
neuropsychologist.
The goal of this research study is to better understand the natural history of cardiac
rhabdomyomas in Tuberous Sclerosis Complex and to identify a population of
individuals for which we can hopefully improve outcomes through a combination of
patient education and close clinical monitoring and follow-up.

We are seeking research participants for a Non-invasive Study of Brain Activity During
Language Tasks. Compensation $15 per hour. Participation takes about 3 hours. Please

5. A Study of Brain Activity in People with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Principal Investigator: Lisa M. Shin, PhD
Study: Dr. Lisa Shin and colleagues in the Department of Psychiatry at the Massachusetts
General Hospital (MGH) are conducting a research study to examine brain activity in
individuals who have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Participation will take up to
5 hours of your time. It will involve undergoing a psychiatirc assessment, fililng out
questionnaires, providing a saliva sample, and lying in a scanner while "pictures" of your
brain are taken using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Participants will be
paid $100 for their time.
Who is Eligible: Individuals who are:
Age 18-45
Right-handed
Not Pregnant
Without mental implants, such as pacemakers and aneurysm clips

6. Breast Research Study
The Optical Imaging Group in the NMR Center at the Charlestown Navy Yard-Bldg 149
is looking for 21+ year old women to participate in a breast research study. Women must
not have breast implants. The study involves optical measurements taken during slight
compression. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes. Remuneration is $25 and a

7. Can Salt Affect the Blood Vessels?
Brigham and Women’s Hospital is investigating the effect of salt on blood vessel
function. We seek healthy men 18-45 years old. This research study will last about 3
weeks and involves a few overnight stays in the hospital, blood sampling, meals, and
blood vessel testing. Compensation up to $500. Contact: Ffyona 617-278-0672.
8. Do you want to know how your pregnancy, blood sugar, and heart are related?
The Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Hypertension Division of Brigham and Women’s
Hospital seeks healthy Black women 18-40 years old who have had normal pregnancies
or pregnancies complicated by diabetes in the past 5 years for a research study on
diabetes during pregnancy and its effects on heart disease risk. The research study
includes an oral glucose tolerance test, fasting blood tests and a non-invasive vascular
study. Participants cannot be currently pregnant or nursing. Takes about 5 hours. Stipend
