Website: Our new and improved website is now launched and attracting more and more visitors to the page every day. Huge credit is due to Catherina Cunnane from Derrybrack Aubracs for her continued work in this area. However we need your help!!! Currently we only have 3 herd profiles on the site. Hints to help compile profiles: 100/200 words, summary of the herd, including location of the farm, breeding programme, your experience of having Aubrac cattle, number of stock, and future plans. Breeders may wish to include photos (minimum of one). To date there are three profiles listed on the website. We need news relating to the breed, the benefits of keeping Aubrac Cattle is one of the best kept secrets in Ireland – lets change that by informing people of kill-out results, mart prices, competitions etc. We need your photos; do you have progeny of Aubrac AI bulls that we can put in our AI section? Transfer of Ownership Department of Agriculture guidelines states that all pedigree Stock has to be transferred into new herd owner name before they can be used to register animals as pedigree. Certificates can be sent to the Aubrac office to have transfer completed and a new Certificate is issued with the buyers name on the Certificate at a cost of €18 per certificate. No certificate will be issued for 2015 Registrations if transfer is not complete. Tuam Aubrac Sale A successful sale was held in Tuam Mart on April 6. All but two cattle were sold on the day, with a top price of €2200 for a Dolby sired Bull, from the De Buitlier herd. DNA Testing of Bulls It has been agreed in a council meeting that Pedigree Aubrac bulls must have their linage verified by means of a DNA test before the society will issue a pedigree cert. This ruling has been put in place to protect the buyer and ensure progression of high quality Aubrac stock in the future. Fundraising: The society will be raffling a pedigree aubrac heifer in a bid to raise funds to cover the costs of attending the ploughing championships 2015. Members of the society will be kindly asked to take a card and sell lines (€2 each) to people in their locality throughout the summer. The Draw will be held in September. Tullamore Show Support the Aubrac Cattle and Society The Tullamore Show will be held this year on Sun, 9th August. We encourage as many breeders as possible to exhibit their stock.
