Did you know that over 6,000 people right here in Bexar County will be diagnosed with
cancer this year and over 2,300 will die because of it? As a community, we can all
join together to fight cancer through the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.
As one of the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary health organizations, the
American Cancer Society’s mission is to eliminate cancer as a major health problem by
preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering through research,
education, advocacy & service. As the largest source of private, not-for-profit
cancer research, we are funding and discovering better ways to detect and treat
cancer every day, even right here in San Antonio.
The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life unites communities in the fight against
cancer as teams walk in memory of those who have lost their battle with cancer and in
honor of those who are still fighting, each having their own reason why they Relay,
but all having one goal in mind; to create a world with less cancer and more
birthdays.
This year, North Bexar County will host a 12- hour Relay For Life event May 3, 2013
through May 4, 2013 at the S.T.A.R. Soccer Complex. We are asking you to support
your community as an Event Sponsor with several options for you to participate. Every
dollar that you donate is tax deductible and could be the dollar that finds the cure.
