BEST BREED INFORMATION DISPLAY - There will be a rosette for the
best breed information display by an exhibitor. This will be judged during the day.
PHOTO COMPETITION 2016 is the 25th Dorset Rare Breeds Show and to celebrate we are planning to produce
a calendar of photos of Rare Breeds. Please email your entries (in jpeg format and
stating breed(s)) to rosemary.lovegr@btinternet.com by the closing date 2 May 2015
to. There is no entry fee. Photos will be displayed in the Rare Breeds Marquee for

All foals, which must accompany mares in the ring, must be at least 6 weeks old on the day of
the show. If there are sufficient foals in attendance on the day a foal class will be arranged.

RULES AND REGULATIONS: Would all exhibitors please note:
1. Organisers reserve the right to amalgamate, cancel or split classes as necessary.
2. The RBST – Dorset Support Group will not be responsible for any illness or accident that
may occur to any animal or article exhibited at the Show. It shall be a condition of entry that
each exhibitor shall hold the group harmless and indemnify it against any legal proceedings
arising from any such accident or illness.
3. Animals must be the property of the exhibitor for 3 months at the time of the show.
4. Animals sent for exhibition may at any time, on the instruction of the Judges, Director,
Secretary, Stewards or Officials of the Show, be inspected by the Veterinary officer of the
Show. The Veterinary Officer will be instructed to order the removal from the show ground of
any animal which in his opinion is affected by a disease or condition likely to prove harmful
to other animals or is any way unfit for exhibition.
5. Persons making an entry and not sending their proposed exhibit to the show shall forfeit
their entrance fee

6. Exhibitor numbers must be conspicuously fixed to each handler before they will be allowed
to enter the show ring.
7. No unauthorised person allowed into the show ring whilst judging is in progress.
8. The decisions of the Judge shall be final in all cases
9. All livestock must be presented for judging at the time announced for their respective class
10. Exhibitors of stock must provide proper chains, halters, head collars, food and water.
Cattle must be double tied in the lines.
11. All animals are to be led in the show ring. Exhibitors must ensure they provide
sufficient handlers.
12. No exhibitor may smoke in the show ring
13. In all classes a white coat must be worn by the handler, except for horse and pony classes.
14. Animals must be registered or eligible for registration in a Herd/Stud/Flock Book of their
breed or in the Combined Flock Book
15. No animal may be left unattended on the show ground. If an exhibitor wishes to leave the
show ground for any reason the section secretary must be informed and someone must be left
on the show ground to be responsible for the exhibitors stock. Failure to comply with this
regulation will result in a £50.00 fine.
16. Any exhibitor who wishes to lodge a complaint must do so in writing to the Show
Secretary within half an hour of the judging of the class. A deposit of £20 will be required for
each complaint
17. Exhibitors must provide a valid mobile phone number on their entry form. This will
be only used for contact on Show Day or in case of cancellation or abandonment of the Show.
18. All animals to meet identification requirements as required by DEFRA. Animals without
adequate ear tags will be refused entry to the show.
19. Any handler under 16 years of age must be supervised by a responsible adult while
showing their stock. No pigs or rams to be shown by children under 9 (except pig young
handler classes – see separate rules).
20. Animals must not be removed before 4.30pm
21. Entries received after the closing date will incur a £5.00 fee per exhibitor and may not
appear in the catalogue. Cheques returned unpaid by our bank will attract a surcharge of £10
Fees must then be paid by Postal Orders or cash on the day of the show.
22. NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championships: These classes are judged under the Rules of the
NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a
Qualifying or Life member of the NPS. A valid membership card must be in the rider's/
handler's possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the
judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner's
membership card is not immediately produced, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve
Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has
previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card
goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS.
The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first
Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships.
Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship
to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show 4 th – 6th August 2015.

23. NPS M&M In Hand Silver Medal Rosette Championship (SM –MMIH)
Sponsored by KILMANNAN STUD 7
A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by the National Pony Society for the best registered pony
owned by an NPS Qualifying or Life member in the M&M In Hand section. The Sponsor's
Rosette is also awarded to the pony receiving the qualification. Membership cards must be
presented in the ring to receive the medal and/or the qualification.
24. The NPS M&M Home Produced In Hand National Championship (MM-HPH)
These classes are open to pure bred registered M&M ponies which are either stabled at home
or in a DIY yard and which since 1st January in the current year have not been shown by a
producer or stabled in a producer's yard other than on a DIY basis or at stud. To be
owned/kept, produced, ridden/handled by a person who does not derive their main income
from working with horses/ponies. No professional producers are allowed into the ring to
groom/strip the horse/pony. Please see NPS 2015 Rule Book, Sec A, 3.6
Please enter this class in the spirit it is intended. Competitors who contravene the above
will be disqualified. Exhibitors wishing to compete to wear white arm bands.
25. By entering the show all exhibitors in any section agree to be bound by the following
indemnity “I hereby certify that at the time of making this entry I have read the Show rules and
regulations and that I make this entry subject to them and at my own risk. I agree that I will make
no claim for loss or damage to exhibits, animals or other items brought by me or on my behalf to
the Show (‘my property’) and I indemnify the RBST–Dorset Support Group (RBST-DSG) from
and against any claim or demand arising from the alleged negligence or other liability of the
persons in charge of my property and I will reimburse the RBST-DSG on demand for all loss and

REASONABLE PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID AND PREVENT ACCIDENTS
OCCURRING AND MUST OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE ORGANISERS,
