Purpose of Job
To identify players of potential, to select a Squad of players and prepare that squad to participate within agreed preparation and participation program. To plan and deliver agreed number of preparation and squad sessions leading in to the BT Sport Regional Academy fixtures and to provide accurate player reports on the conclusion of the program.

Key Accountabilities
Support the preparation of the agreed Borders and East Lothian Age Grade season plan
Monitor agreed plans for preparation and competitions for Borders and East Lothian BT Sport Academy
Program
Liaise with relevant stakeholders to identify players of potential and to maximise individual player improvement programmes
Attend appropriate management meetings, and specific coach meetings
Completion of individual player reports within agreed format
Review performance of players and team with Head Coaches of the BT Sport Borders and East Lothian
Academy age grade teams to provide feedback to Academy Manager
Work closely with the squad Physiotherapist to ensure high standards of player welfare are always at the forefront of activities and discussions

Essential
UKCC Level 2 or equivalent
Valid driving licence
Minimum 3 years recent and relevant performance level coaching experience.
Experience of recognising and developing individual player performance.
Understanding of Scottish Rugby’s

Recent and relevant performance level coaching experience with school or club age grade teams
Recent attendance at CPD workshops

Ability to undertake flexible working hours
Initial:
Meet Academy Manager and Head Coach and agree program aims and objectives
Where appropriate attend relevant school & club matches / complete agreed player reports prior to selection
Participate in the selection process of the relevant squad
Sessions:
Deliver effective & progressive sessions through the program
Monitoring of players and self through program
Feedback to players, Head Coach and Academy Manager
Ensure player welfare is at the forefront of all activities
Game Preparation:
As part of the wider coaching group organise and plan sessions to prepare all players to maximize their individual performance within a team environment
Understand and implement Borders and East Lothian Academy rugby principals
Match day:
Prepare players for match through pre match build up and warm up in conjunction with S&C support
Observe and feedback to players / team on performance
Cool team down and lead team through post match routine in conjunction with S&C support
