Collegiate Challenge 2013
March 24 to March 31, 2013
Introduction
Thank you for your interest in Habitat for Humanity’s Spring Break Collegiate Challenge! As a campus chapter, UCLA has been
participating in Collegiate Challenge for the last 7 years, and each year our groups come back with amazing stories of their experiences.
Collegiate Challenge is a weeklong event open to high school and college students that promotes an alternative break by providing
students the chance to help in the battle against substandard housing all across the United States. Participants can find themselves
laying down foundations of homes, cutting frames with an electric saw, or applying a fresh coat of paint to a home all in an effort to
provide needy families with a decent and affordable home to live in. What makes Collegiate Challenge such a rewarding experience is
not just the fulfillment of helping those in need, but also having fun by meeting new people and exploring new places.
This year we will be extending our helping hands out to New Orleans, LA and Palm Beach, FL. The area of New Orleans still
needs our help in rebuilding from the disaster of Hurricane Katrina and many families in Palm Beach, FL are living in substandard
housing conditions. Our weeklong work in these areas will provide immense help for the entire community.
