Biology 2015-2016 Dear Parents and/or Guardians, I am looking forward to teaching your son or daughter Biology this school year. My goal is for all my students to leave my classroom with a sound appreciation for biological concepts. Studying biology is valuable because it helps students understand the world around them and enables them to make sound choices regarding themselves and their environment for today and for their futures. This course comes with very high expectations. I do expect your student to participate on a mature level in class discussion, laboratory, and all activities. In order for your student to best appreciate what is happening in the classroom on a daily basis, it is important for them to be in attendance every day. To better serve both students and parents, my web site at www.teacherweb.com, will provide information on notes, homework, schedules, and much more. You can reach my email through the high school web site or denisereaves@tomballisd.net. My telephone number at school is 281-357-3220, Ext. 2397. Tutoring is available before or after school on most days. A schedule will be posted on teacherweb, in the classroom and outside the classroom door. If I am not available, there are other Biology teachers the students can see for assistance. The Scope and Sequence and supply lists can be found on the following pages. This packet is for you to keep and refer to during the school year if any questions should arise. You will receive a letter from the school district giving you a password to go online and monitor your student’s grades in all classes. Online grades are usually updated weekly. This is an excellent source for following your child’s progress. Please never hesitate to call me or email me as soon as possible if you have any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible at Open House. Please start making plans today for this critical event in your student’s success! I know that if we work together, your child will experience a successful year in Biology. Sincerely, Denise M.
