 Eric owns a moving company. His workers are trying to take all of the customers
furniture up to their new apartment in one elevator trip. The maximum weight is
posted as 1600 pounds. If the furniture weighs 2000 pounds, what fraction of the
furniture must his workers remove from the elevator to be under the limit?
 What is the perimeter of a right triangle with a base of 24 units and a height of 32
units?
 What is the perimeter of a right triangle with a base of 12 meters and a height of 5
meters?

 Justin wants a grade of A in his algebra class. On his first 4 tests he raises his
score by 5 points each time. For an A, Justin must average 90 on all 5 tests.
Justin figures out he must score a 92 on his final test to get an A. What did he
score on his first test?
 The sum of the measures of two supplementary angles is 180 degrees. If one
angle measures 45 degrees less than twice the measure of its supplement, find the
measure of each angle. (smallest first)
 During 2/3 of the day, a rancher's 5 horses each eat 1/4 bail of hay an hour. How
many bails of hay does the rancher need to buy to buy to feed the horses for the
week if he already has 16 1/2 bails?
 A football field is 100 yards long and 53 yards wide. If a player runs from one
corner of the field diagonally to the other corner how far has he run?
 A right triangle has an area of 6 square inches and has a height of 3 inches. What
is the hypotenuse?

 Before a sales seminar, 36% of the people said they would buy an Ajax brand
carpet cleaner. After the seminar 40 of the people changed their mind and now
56% of the people said they would buy the carpet cleaner. How many people
attended the seminar?
 If you rent a car and for the first 4 days it cost you $166 and the next 3 days it
costs you another $100, what was your cost per day?
 Sam owns a junkyard. He uses the function V(t) = -20t + 300 to represent the
value of used televisions that are t years old. After how many years is a television
worthless to Sam?
 A rectangle has a length twice as long as the width and an area of 50 square feet.
How long is the diagonal of the rectangle?
 A rectangle with an area of 192 square feet has a length that is 4 feet longer than
the width. How long is the diagonal?
