Student Intern
We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Student Intern. Circle H Animal Health,
LLC is a progressive veterinary consulting practice and associated service provider. Our main
focus is on dairy and swine. We are located in Dalhart, TX. Our area offers rapidly expanding
dairy job opportunities.
SUMMARY: The Student Intern program at Circle H Animal Health, LLC allows our practice to network with high
caliber students. This gives students the opportunity to understand our practice focus, gain invaluable work experience
and the opportunity for us to get to know the student, their interests and strengths over a period of time. Typically,
our practice will hire one student intern per summer. In addition to the opportunity to shadow veterinarians while
interacting with clients, the summer intern will be called upon to assist veterinarians and support practice functions.
Efforts will be made to allow the student to oversee one or more projects that would be suitable for presentation at
AASV or AABP annual meeting student sessions. The internship program is a critical component of our recruiting and
networking initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Ability to follow protocols including, but not limited to, animal tissue collection, data collection, farm audits,
research trials and farm employee training.
Ability to achieve repeatable results in a timely fashion.
Effective written and oral communication.
Compose and type routine correspondence.
High level of detail.
Enter and graphically summarize laboratory test results, performance records and other data as needed.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to maintain veterinary equipment in good working order.
Provide organizational and data processing support to technical staff as appropriate.
Ability to work within a team environment.
Computer skills involving word processing, spreadsheet, databases and/or similar complexity software
programs.
Ability to safely drive a pick-up truck and trailer.
Ability to safely operate a tractor and 3-point mount PTO equipment.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform
each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the work environment,
knowledge, skill, and/or ability required or preferred. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals
with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Dependable transportation to and from work sites is required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: The employee must be enrolled in an accredited veterinary
program leading to full veterinary licensure in the United States. Previous farm animal experience is highly
desirable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Strong communication skills are required to effectively convey meaning in written
correspondence and verbal discussion. Candidates must exhibit good personal organization capabilities and
habits.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: The employee must have the ability to use algebra and apply the concepts of
mathematics pertinent to microbiology and diagnostics.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or
move up to 50 pounds and consistently perform precise and often repetitive motions. Specific vision abilities required
by this job include depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, discern colors and appreciate fine detail.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently works near animals,
some of which may be dangerous to humans. The employee is frequently exposed to needles, vaccines, antibiotics and
other therapeutics and/or environments requiring personal protective equipment. The noise level in the work
environment is usually moderate. Weather conditions are not always ideal; you may encounter extreme cold or heat
and wet or dusty conditions working outdoors.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the
discretion of management.
COMPENSATION: Compensation is typically $500 per week. Housing is provided.
