SUBJECT: CPD Meeting – February 11th

Rose W. has returned to CPD.
UTAP
– Mike Hamman will be doing the first UTAP presentation on iclickers on Wednesday,
Febuary 25th at 12:00 in the Scandinavian Room
– Additional UTAP topics and presentations
 March 18th or 25th – Tom Beech has agreed to present on the topic of gaining
student interest in the classroom. Ann C. will contact him to schedule a date.
 Mid April –Angie Fournier has agreed to speak on the topic of Group
Dynamics

Workshops/Forums
– The Assessment Workshop was conducted on Friday February 6th, 1-3. There was
good reviews and faculty thought it was helpful
 Faculty wanted to now more about efolio and how it related to program
assessment – this is a potential topic for a workshop
– GIS Faculty – by Jeff Ueland – this event will be pushed back to Monday, March 2nd
from 3:00 – 4:00 tentatively in the Crying Wolf Room
– Intellectual Property Rights – Bob Griggs – Maggie will talk to Bob
– Training in Efolio
– New Faculty Brown Bag – to ask faculty input on what areas need to be focused on.

Teaching Consultation
– A faculty member has requested a video consultation – Patrick C. contacted this
faculty member and she will do a videotaping on February 20th and Maggie C. and
Patrick C. will go into the classroom to evaluate the class without the video camera

New Faculty Support
– Needs assessment project proposal (Ann C.) – the CPD has agreed to let Ann C. do a
needs assessment of the New Faculty program which will include helping the CPD
assess what is important to new faculty at BSU
– New Faculty Brown Bag – This may be a place to introduce the needs assessment

Metamorphosis
– First Deadline: March 6th
– What else should be included in Metamorphosis?
 Rose W. will contact Nancy to see if she would be willing to author a book
review on the issue of institutional change
 It was suggested that less copies of Metamorphosis be published and teachers
could be sent the magazine electronically.

– Authors and topics
 Approaching change in education – Shari Olson and Maggie Carlson


Liberal education change and what will be experienced on a faculty level –

 How organizations change (dealing with issues such as resistance) – Louise

 Changes in technology in education (Social network in the classroom) – Jeff
Ueland
Maggie C. is in the process of contacting Rose Jones to see if she would like to author
an article on the Change of the HLC Mission and what that means
It was decided that the article on Humanities would not be pursued because of
grievances

Other Information Discussed
– It was discussed that CPD minutes will be posted online, and names of faculty that
request teaching consultations would not be included in the minutes
– Sharon Gritzmacher has requested for CPD to arrange campus wide forum be held on
the topic successful advising with underrepresented athletes. It was decided that a
brown bag will be held. Ann C. will contact Sharon for good times.
– A new student worker, Meghan Kampff, was hired for CPD

