Kadima Kandy Land Our game of Candy Land is all about the CANDY! In the classic game of Candy Land players race around a board full of colored spots as well as fun location and character names. In our game, teams will compete in candy related games and challenges based on the board game’s most exciting spaces. The group will be divided into teams to compete in the challenges and the winning team of each challenge will be awarded gumdrop points (in most cases the team to finish first gets 5 gumdrop points, second gets 3 gumdrop points, and third gets 1 gumdrop point). Rainbow Taste Test: One member from each team will be brought forward, blindfolded and given a food item to taste. The key is that each food item will be a different bright color, signifying the rainbow. The players don’t need to be able to identify the item that they ate, but rather identify the COLOR of the item. After each player has eaten their item they will be asked to identify the color before passing the blindfold to the next player, who will taste a DIFFERENT item. The teams will be given 1 gumdrop point for each item they correctly identify the color of. Food item MAY repeat depending on the number of players on each team. Purple: Grape Laffy Taffy Yellow: Lemon Head candy Red: Hot Tamales candy White: a Marshmallow Orange: an Orange Slice Candy Blue: Berry Burst Gushers Green: Green Apple Sour Straws Each team will get 1 gumdrop point for each food color correctly identified. Princess Lolly Tie a lollypop to a string and tie a loop at the other end. Set out an empty cup on the ground in front of each team. One at a time the players will put the loop over their arm, so the string is hanging around their elbow. They will run forward and try to get the lollypop into the cup in front of them. They will then pull the candy back out and hand the string to the next player, who will repeat the same thing. This continues until everyone has gotten the candy into the cup. After this challenge give everyone a lollypop! Plumpy: Hide a purple jelly bean in a bowl of marshmallow fluff. Three players from each team will compete in this activity. One at a time, each player must race up and find the candy without using their hands. Have a different bowl ready for each player. Lord Licorice: One at a time each player will run up to their station and grab a piece of licorice off their plate without using their hands. The must eat the entire piece of licorice (again without using their hands) before going back and tapping the next player for their turn. Repeat until everyone has had a piece of licorice. Peppermint Forest: Each team will be given red streamers and toilet paper and will be asked to turn one person from their team into a candy cane to join the Peppermint Forest. Gumdrop points will be awarded for the best candy cane. Queen Frostine: Each team will be given a set amount of graham crackers and frosting (frosting will be put into a Ziploc bag with one corner cut off so that it is easier to use). Working as a team they must build the TALLEST castle possible on their plate for Queen Frostine. After time is up, each team will display their structures to the other teams and gumdrop points will be awarded for the three tallest castles. Mr. Mint: Give each player a coffee stirrer to place in their mouth. On the stirrer of the first person per team place a mint candy with a hole in the middle of it. The object is for the players to transfer the candy from player to player without it dropping. The candy should be passed down the entire line. First team to finish wins. King Kandy: We have a brand new Seaboard Kadima Bar. Each team must decide what delicious ingredients will be in this new candy bar. Then they will create a jingle to sing to King Kandy (one of the USYers) about their new candy bar creation. The USYers will be the judges for the jingles and give out gumdrop points for the best ones. Candy Castle: For this activity, each team will be given a set of ingredient cards – each card will list one ingredient found in popular candy bars. The leader will call out a type of candy bar and the teams will have to produce the correct ingredients that make up that candy bar. The first team to correctly present the ingredients to the leader wins that round. For example, if the candy called out is “Peanut M&M’s” the first team to bring forward the ingredient cards saying milk chocolate and peanuts would win the round. One player at a time will run up and pull off ONE peel of the Twizzler and place it down on their team’s plate. One by one the teammates will do the same, little by little creating the same castle drawing shown in the provided picture. The first team to finish wins, but gumdrop points will also be awarded for the most accurate recreation. Stuck in the Molasses Swamp If time and weather permit we will explain the rules of this game inside, and then take everyone outside to play, as the final activity (“Stuck in the mud”). This is a game of tag, just like regular tag, but when a player is tagged they must freeze on the spot and remain there – stuck in the molasses swamp – until an untagged player comes to their rescue, setting them free by crawling through their legs. Teammates may only un-stick fellow teammates. 1 person from each team will be it.
